--Whimpers-- I know I haven't posted to the board in ages (Life has gotten in the way, losing your place can do that you... :P ) But I have been keeping up on the stories.

My feelings are somewhat mixed about the ending of TLW cause that's sorta how it read even if he didn't come out and say it.

There's regret that it's over because this was the story that first drew me to Dom's writing, but also an odd type of happiness that things now have a bit of closure. As they say, all good things must come to an end eventually....

One thing I can say for sure is that once again it was an enjoyable read and I can't wait to see what else he comes up with.

It was a great ending to a great story. I'm going to miss the story, but I always have DD to look forward to now :)

Thank you so much for one of the best reads I have ever had, Dom!

I hate to be all sappy, but I actually feel pretty sad about TLW ending. It's the reason I ended up here at GA, after all, through a long, convoluted series of events.

:( I too am very sad to see TLW end. I have never been one to like it when a story I am reading ends, but, they do eventually have to end. I feel that it was ended well.

Dom you did a great job on this chapter as you have on all the rest. Now that TLW has ended you can start hanging us out over the cliffs of DD and TOU. :D

I too am sad that TLW is ending, but Chapter 30 was a good way to end it. Owen had closure with all of his boys (Adam, Nicky, Dennis) and Aiden & Nicky can at least tolerate each other.

Thanks Dom for the ride!!!!!

P.S. - Although TLW is ending, at least Apollo is back :worship: !!! We've missed you!

Congratulations Dom on an excellent ending. Of course now I've got to go back and read it all again. Can I blame you if I get a bad grade on my project now? ;):P

Looking forward to more DD and TOU! :2thumbs:

Great ending to a great story, Dom. As Vic said, thanks for the ride, thanks for the log ride. :boy:

The story was particularly cogent for me as it brought a number of feelings to my conciousness that may never have surfaced otherwise. These feelings centered around the regret and, to some extent, the self-disgust that Owen felt for not ever having stood up to his father. Me too.

My father is still alive at 83 and showing no signs of departing this place. I find myself happy about that. I see him as the most content that he has ever been, at least in his adult life. He plays golf 5 times a week, still goes to church and visits his grandchildren whenever he can. I have no need to go and mess with that.

I suffer from the same affliction as Owen. I care about my dad and honestly wish things had turned out better for us. They didn't though and I accept that. I agree with Owen's self-assessment. He doesn't see himself as better than his parents simply because he's more caring; but he's definitely better for others being that way. Me too.

Hugs,

Conner :boy:

Sigh...

I hate to get closure when im enjoying something. I guess its for the best as Dom will now get a chance to work on something else for a while, but I suppose i just liked TLW and kind of wish it could have carried on.

I thought about this for a bit, as much as I would like to see Owen's story continue, the fact of the matter is that Owen's character reached a point of growth that he had to learn to deal with/accept his parents soon, or he never would. If he didn't come to some sort of terms with the situation, it would start to eat away at his 'new' relationships with friends and family. If Dom hadn't ended it here, he would have to throw new conflict at Owen and his life and relationships would suffer.

The happy times in the lives of characters don't often make for great stories, neither do the times of digestion and resting after they finish chewing on a huge chunk of their lives. Dom's analogy in his blog of sending his baby to school is a better one than I think he realizes. He got Owen past a big issue and sent him off to have fun and grow, in raising children one does the same ... get them past the toddler stage and send them off to grow and learn.

Dom's made it clear that these characters will be 'around'. Maybe one day Owen will have grown enough to take TLW out of it's 'school days' into 'adolescence and adulthood' (not Owen, the story itself). As it is, I'm happy for both Owen and Dom.

Dom, don't worry about loose ends, life is full of them. Thank you for a great story and thank you for not pushing it past a natural conclusion simply because we all didn't want to see an end.

:2thumbs: The Story was AWEsome. I was hoping Dom would let Aiden cut his hair or something. So sexy. And like some of you said, it was a good ride. LOL. Pray for a sequel. LOL. :read:

Ya know, I was thinking about this all day. Mark pays me a nice complement, I think he overdid it, and you (lurker and Trebs) make it into some sexual thing that is only there because of your perverse minds. All of this detracts from the wonderfull story that Dom wrote and you should be ashamed of yourselves 0:)

Sheesh, someone is a little too literal minded...

And some people can't tell when they are being played like a fiddle :P

Although I did like the TLW quote to keep on topic.
