The Airport series still remains my all time favorite disaster movies.

Nope, actually baseball is my least favorite of the big four to watch on tv, but it still beats most of the nap-inducing Olympic events.

Oh yeah, and I'm sure Hitler and Stalin and Obama and Bush and Merkel and Lincoln and King George were all queers too. Come on people. There is no solid proof and this has the smell of "its a slow news day so lets create a story".

Now maybe if they still did all the events naked like back in the Greek times, then you would have to pry me away from watching the Olympics. Until then, I'll just continue watching MLB.

Its pathetic when not only the athletic staff but the President of the university and other high ranking officials actively covered it up. Penn State deserves to burn now that everyone's cover-up suspicions have been confirmed.

Wow, do any of you guys watch the Olympics for the sports or just the hot athletes? I fail to find any excitement whatsoever in the Summer Olympics. All the sports are about as exciting to watch as a snail crossing the street. They took away one of the only good sports in baseball, and now its been reduced to swimming, gymnastics, and whatever else the Europeans like to do besides soccer. Boooooooooring. I'll just keep waiting for the Winter Olympics and the good sports.

Thats not really a big surprise. The Episcopal Church has always been much more forward thinking then the Lutheran or Catholic churches have been. It only seemed natural that after allowing gay priests and electing a gay bishop that they would do this. On a side note, I actually got to meet Gene Robinson (the first openly gay elected bishop from New Hampshire) and hear him speak. He's a real nice guy.

So I've been on a big fantasy reading kick lately since I'm currently experiencing the most boring summer of my short life. I used to hate fantasy because the only kind I had been exposed to was the cheesy and cliche 'charming prince sets off to rescue the princess and slays a few dragons and trolls and has zero chance of dying'. Then when I was in the book store not too long ago I stumbled across The Way of Shadows, by Brent Weeks which is the first book in The Night Angel trilogy. Long story short, something compelled me to pick it up and I did. I became absolutely hooked. It had many dark themes, sex scenes, politics, intrigue, human suffering, and the author actually killed off important characters! It blew every misconception I had about the fantasy genre out the window. Anyways, I'm getting close to finishing the trilogy and I'd like to continue in the genre for a little while. Does anyone have any good suggestions in fantasy that has more of the dark/political/suspense theme then the corny 'prince saves princess' theme? What about George R.R. Martin's A Song of Fire & Ice series? I've heard good things about it but I wanted to know if anyone here had read it or anything like it.

The heat definitely sucks. And great to hear you are continuing to lose the weight. Its definitely not easy but will pay hugely in the long run. As Joann said, its a huge accomplishment to be proud of.

Here's why train transportation sucks in the US. A flight from where I go to school (ten minutes from the Philly airport) to the airport closest my house (either Manchester or Hartford) takes only 55 minutes of flying time. A train ride on Amtrak from 30th Street Station in Philly to Brattleboro, VT takes 7.5 hours, and its much easier to get to the airport then 30th Street Station. With Philly being such a large airport with many airlines, flying generally costs only about $15-20 more then a train ticket. So I can get to where I'm going in about 3 hours (counting the drive), or in 7.5 hours by train. Amtrak sucks. The US has the largest and most developed airport system in the world, and with the popularity of Southwest and JetBlue, its very cheap. So why would someone not spend the extra little bit of money on a flight that will get them there many times faster then a train? As for public transportation such as buses and subways, well, they don't exist outside large cities and the immediate suburbs. They also tend to be chronically inefficient and dangerous.

Italy played like shit. Losing 4-0 in a title game! In soccer no less! I'm happy though, I wanted Spain to win.

Yeah I actually came across that one. The only thing is it takes place in high school, and I'd prefer a story that takes place in the US.

I'm looking for a high quality story that features mostly male characters in a college setting. I've already read Andy's Second Shot so that is out. Any suggestions?

Me personally, I'm more of a grunter during sex. I don't say much but I grunt. My boyfriend is more vocal though. There is nothing sexier to me then when he starts saying stuff in Spanish with his accent as we're doing it. Total turn on.

I agree with everything except the paying. The primary objective of college is getting an education (or at least its supposed to be). Being able to be an athlete, even on the national stage, is a privilege. Its a stepping stone to a possible pro sports career.

They are all very cute too. Not the 'I wanna throw you onto my bed and boogey you under the covers' cute, but the 'your really easy on the eyes' cute.

At least it takes some of the politicking out of the process. It drives me crazy how every year three or four teams get screwed out of playing for the national championship because they aren't big market or won't bring in the ratings. Its bullshit. But only 4 teams? Come on, thats still way too narrow. At least it is a step in the right direction though.
