Its truly wrong that he was found guilty of bias intimidation, aka hate crime.

As a reader, I don't like chapter titles. They can sometimes give away big events that are going to happen in the chapter before they ever happen. For example, I'm currently reading Larry Bond's Vortex and he uses chapter titles for each chapter. I have been able to guess the outcome of three!!! major plot developments in the story before even reading them. I've gotten to the point where I cover up the chapter titles so it doesn't spoil the plot developments.

I agree completely. I just wanted to point out though that it is still not an acceptable thing in most places to be gay on a team, especially in macho sports like football, hockey, lacrosse, or baseball.

Impressive message, but the reality of the male locker room for sports teams is far different. Being gay is still about the worst thing you can be on many male sports teams.

After converting to Apple, I've realized how much Microsoft and PCs in general suck. I'll stick to Apple OS, thanks.

This was taken the day after Christmas during a family visit on Long Island. The Sound is in the back, and my dad and my two little cousins are on our shoulders. It was so windy and neither of us could keep our eyes fully open for the picture.

I doubt even a very politically ambitious prosecutor going to score points could have gotten charges of murder, or even manslaughter. I don't believe in hate crimes anyway so I'm against it to begin with. I could go on, but this isn't the Soapbox so I'll shut my mouth now (as it tends to get me in trouble).

This would have never been labeled a hate crime had it not been for it's high profile media status. I smell a prosecutor trying to score big with a high profile case for future political gain. This was a prank that went horribly wrong, and now the idiots who thought it would be funny are having their life ruined for it. Call me crazy, but I actually feel bad for the moron Ravi. His life is ruined over a dumb prank.

Finny dying was about the only noteworthy thing that happened. The rest was just mundane stuff that never kept my attention. Granted, I read it in 10th grade English class, so maybe I'd have a different perspective on it now. But still, I remember how boring that damn book was.

Which do you prefer be the driving force in a story? The book's plot or the book's character? I usually prefer plot to be the main driving force in a story and don't mind if the characters aren't deep, insightful beings. I love reading technothriller authors like Harold Coyle, Tom Clancy, and Larry Bond who get accused with every book they write of having cardboard characters. Its true to some extent, but they write amazing plots. I can't stand books with deeply insightful characters, but nothing ever happens to them (aka A Seperate Peace by John Knowles).

I realized my same-sex attractions around the start of puberty (age 11 or so). They grew and grew until I could no longer deny them. I accepted the fact that I had same-sex attractions at 16, came out to my parents (unexpectedly and not on my own terms) at 17. I had my first sexual experience with a guy and met my boyfriend at 17 too. Everyone I told reacted well with the exception of my brother. We haven't spoken since the day he found out almost 2 years ago, but so is life. I live two separate lives essentially now. When I'm at college 400 miles and 6 hours away, I'm open about my sexual preference to all my friends and they know who I am. When I'm back home in the sticks around those types of people and ones I knew from high school, they only know me as a straight guy.
