  1. Red carnations? Green hair? Haven't you guys ever heard of mobile phones? That's a lot easier to find someone in a stange city...
  2. Well, like I said before, I'll be there. Since my neck alone cannot withstand all of Nephy's bites, I'd rather there were a few people around . If you want to join the fun, register your intetrest here and then we'll work out the details in private, away from prying creepy eyes.
  3. Happy birthday Nephy

    Last 4 weeks...

It looks like too many things suddenly went crazy for you. I hope you can get some of them back under control. Take good care of yourself in the meantime.
  5. Your new homeland sounds like Portugal or Spain. Not quite tropical weather but very nice still.
  6. Just read Chapter 15, and my, what a delight...! I laughed with Brett and Jake all the way to Big Bear. It's testament to Corey's love for both of them that he allowed this litlle game to go on as long as he did. No wonder he's close to exploding by the end of the chapter. Even though the trip to the pizzeria is probably part of Brett's carefully elaborated plan, I can't help but feel some sense of foreboding at the end of the chapter.
  7. Happy birthday, Em !!
  8. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will choose soppy romance over disenchantment any day. Thanks for providing hope and happiness around. Enjoy your future together.
  9. I meant you'd be busy cooking the birthday cake, nothing else! Enjoy the special day, you two!
  10. Happy birthday, paya! Now, ordinarily, I would have let Westie create this topic, but I'm sure he's busy
  11. Happy birthday Chase. Keep the smart and snarky comments coming on this side of 21.
  12. This quite possibly is a case of such emotional and social repression that he was unaware of his true attraction. He shouldn't be blamed for this. It's a shame that people are being nasty to him. The only mistake he made was how he handled his coming out. From being completly unaware to publicly announce it to the world on Facebook, there is quite a leap!
  13. I think you're asking the right questions. The strange thing is not that he did his coming out at 37, it's the arguments he presents to legitimate the change. Is he in denial about being in denial before? And if it's about him never having sex before, what has suddenly changed after 7 years of marriage? Did he just discover gay porn on the internet? I can't help but think that there is something else he's not saying. It is sad, though.
  14. Happy birthday, Jensen
  15. Happy birthday Camilo
  16. Four presidents for me: [*]Val
  17. I believe I had an experience similar to yours. I registered with a dating site a little bit over 2 months ago. The choice was easy: the site was recommended by the #1 gay magazine over here, and it also happens to be the #1 dating site for straight people (I just didn't know they had a gay section until then). So it's serious and efficient. It's not cheap but I haven't really compared prices with other sites, so I'm in no position to complain. 1. Yes, there are a lot more of us. And most of them look neither like fairies nor bears. 5. Yes, I've seen this request on many profiles as well. I have been wondering how much of this stems from a real attraction to masculine guys, and how much stems from a wish to remain in the closet (in as much as being with someone who doesn't immediately look gay offers some protection against being outed). My impression, so far, is not wholly negative. Sure, you have to weed out the uninteresting and the downright wierd. There was this guy who kept calling me "mon petit garnement". I don't really know how to translate that, but it's something you'd say to a 6 year old. Let's just say that our MSN conversations did not last for very long. I've been able to meet two guys, with the last one being quite compatible with me. And if no relationship comes out of this, I believe I'll have made a friend. There's more on one of my blog posts.
  18. Well, I just booked my ferry crossing for the week-end of February 4-6, so you guys had better show up for the party !!
  19. Almost three months since my last entry already! Quite a bit has happened. I was on GA a lot over the summer, since I spent three weeks in a cast and was stuck at my parents't house with no means to drive back home. I ended up coming out to my parents at that time. It was hard on them, but not dramatic, and was probably made easier by the fact that I came out as bisexual. They keep hoping I'll end up marrying again even though I made it clear that I wasn't going to date women right now. On the contrary.... following someone's advice on GA I registered in the gay section at a prominent dating site. I was a bit freaked out when one of the first 3 guys who visited my profile turned out to be someone I know from work. I've lived a straight life so far and I'm not out at the work place. Since then, though, I've come out to a few more colleagues/friends. I'd rather they learn about it from me than from office rumours. I got a few contacts on that dating site, including some creeps, but I guess that was to be expected. The first guy who contacted me was interesting. We chatted on MSN for a while and we hit it off although he is from a very different background than mine. We decided to meet. The date itself was a disaster. Since he was coming from out of town I went to meet him at the train station. I was late because I was not used to walking with my crutches, and he got 2 of his bags stolen while waiting for me. So we actually met at the police station. Talk about a fun way to break the ice! Anyway, since he'd lost papers, money, apartment keys, etc., I offered him to stay at my place. Long story short, we ended up spending much more time together than we had expected. Some of it was ok, some of it just strange. Although he's a sweet guy, he's got a lot of issues to deal with and I don't think we were quite right together. So I started cooling things down with him after he'd left Paris. Then he suddenly got pissed off at me for a comment I made, and when I tried to understand I realised that he had been lying and playing with me. Now a month has passed and he's apologised to me, but I can tell that it would not have worked. In a way I'm glad for the experience. How else would I have discovered that I'm not into effeminate guys who carry Paul Smith handbags and are more interested in their facial cream than in finding a suitable job to pay for said handbag? (no offense meant to those of you who fit that description). Then I met a second guy, and we're a much better match. This time I was extra early to the first date, and he was late. It started really really well, and I even wrote a poem about him. We took things slowly and I believed it could work out if we managed to iron out some differences and meet half-way on certain issues. Right now, though, I don't quite know where we stand. It's that weird time in a relationship where, after a few weeks, things should either get very serious or break down completely. In a month's time we might just be friends and nothing more, but I think I could settle for even that. Arghh,... I still have so much to learn in the dating department! When is Mr Right gonna show up?
  20. Happy birthday, Steve! :king:
  21. I knew there must have been another reason why I took half a day off! *gets a party hat and celebrates*
  22. Ok everyone, no need to come after all. I get Nephy all to myself. :2hands:
  23. Ok, can we get a definite yes on the February dates? And an estimate of how many people would be interested. Seafrance has a special on and I could get a very cheap ferry crossing to England, but I need to make a move pretty much this week.
  24. Ok, I'll check it out. Again, I am not surprised that King Hussein could be seen as a hero; I'm only surprised that he was your choice since you mentioned your love for British miltary history, and since you have so many British figures to look up at. You have fascinating tastes .
  25. Ummm, I saw this last night but was too tired to make a coherent defense of poetry. Now, obviously, more poetry lovers have come to the rescue and done a good job. Umm, I agree with Conner. When I first read it, the poll sounded biased against poetry right from the start: with choices #2 and #6 you either like or dislike poetry for reasons foreign to poetry itself. *Cracks a match and sets Westie's comment on fire* :2hands: Why would poetry not have a place here? Care to elaborate? I don't necessarily come on the site for poetry either, but some beautiful poems were posted ; they do tell a fictional tale of gay love, of feelings born from that love. I believe they are right at home in here. I think that was a smart choice and should prevent a re-run of the war between prose and poetry. I'm sure peaceful coexistence can be maintained. Poetry is a much peaceful art than prose anyway; the fight would not be an equal one. Yep, what Sam said
