Simply one of your best chapters yet...we see another side of Lyoth and Captain Suoki, one that renders your heart!!!

Well, just who is the beggar and what powers does he have??? After their meal, they headed back to their apartment, catching a glimpse of the beggar again. As before, intense eyes watched them pass, but this time he was careful not to stare for too long. Regardless, Brohm wasn’t pleased at the attention, and stopped his horse to shoot him a murderous glare. The beggar withered against his gaze. “I see the truth of you,” the man said.

Sounds like Ted suffers from a commonly known malady called stickupyourasssideways.... Dan laughed, “Christ, I hope so. Out of the office and more relaxed, without the poker up his arse, he’s as camp as a row of tents. But he’s not actually said anything.”

it is early days yet as Liam is slowly being acclimated to his new surroundings, I remain curious to see if this so-called Covenant is a force for good or a cult...

With the following I rest my case your honor... "Fine, I'll probably have enough trouble learning to play tennis. What about school?" "It's summer. School starts back up in late August. You'll need to enroll me; I don't want to be home-schooled anymore. That worked with mom, but I'm guessing, I'm already smarter than you." Bass finally spoke up, "Rocky. Manners." "What? He's a bartender, not a rocket scientist." "It's okay, Bass. He'll find out how smart I am over time. I'm a bartender, Rocky, because I enjoy being around people and not having a difficult job, one without a lot of responsibility." "So, you're lazy?" Bass rolled his eyes

I agree, there are some suspicious...ahem...red herrings here...I say trust in DNA testing... Then there is the remotest possibility...

What more can be said other than this truly is a sweet, poignant tale of the misadventures two scamps can get into!!! Need I say more??

Loved this and having read some of your other works elsewhere, I would be remis in not joining the chorus in asking to see more of you here!!!!

As others have noted, Pete is a young talent, in many different areas, he's consciously respectful with his peers and adults, takes direction well, listens...learns...and applies. None of this is happening in a vacuum, Coach sees it and notices as he has the talent to make the team, later when injured he becomes an excellent assistant coach, so good that his replacement, just may be better than he is... Then there's the food aspect...forced into a difficult situation by the thing that spawned him, he becomes self-taught in the ways of the kitchen, and we see how that progresses in his meeting with the owner of the restaurant, and most notably passes the garlic test... I, like @JamesSavik, learned that lesson at a later age, what I took from learning that lesson is my garlic now comes in a plastic bottle that allows me to distribute just the right amount!!! Mitch...you were hoping to hang with Pete...WTF??? !!!

Well...when Betty White puts you in your place, ya gotta know the sign for your exit says Shitsville....

My thoughts exactly!!!

The boys made sure they were ready to make the arduous trip to the new job, I am hoping in the recovery gear they bought was the inclusion of a "come-a-long" which is a hand operated winch, or a winch for the vehicle, it may come in handy!!! Sounds like they are off on an adventure that will create memories for a lifetime!!

Rocky is certainly full on himself...I suspect it is a defense mechanism... Bass, could he be called a 'largemouth Bass??? As to the family business, it ain't ever finished...at least till the fat lady sings...

Calvin...Calvin...Calvin, it is abundantly clear that you ain't...not even in the same league, zip code, or tri-state area... Then there's dear ole departed Mom's thoughts...

Thomas, if you can say and think the following, you can face work!! Thomas says what he thinks. He has nothing to lose. ‘I know you care about me Zack and I know there are reasons I probably don’t understand as to why you can’t be with me. But I just want you to know if you ever can go out with me, all you have to do is ask me.’

Talk about starting off with a bang!!!

I love watching the two of these guys growing their relationship!

It would not bother me to see either Lord Byron or Auren meet their justly deserved fate sooner rather than later...As to Simon, something or someone needs to get him sorted ASAP!!!

When did thinking for oneself become such a dangerous activity???

Along with do unto others as you would have done to you... “Goodness comes from inside us.”

After reading the following, I felt it wasn't going to end well... Elijah snorted and slid down the wall until he was lying on his back, folding his hands behind his head, and propping one ankle on the opposite knee. “I was doing you a favor. You and I both know your mother wouldn’t let the two of us hang out anymore after what happened. She was so pissed off at having to lie to save your ass. She never would have let me near you again. I just saved you the trouble of making a very difficult choice.”

Some very, true to life, dark moments here along with some considerable benign neglect...With the cleaning out/rebuilding the shack serving as a metaphor for their burgeoning relationship, the incident with the bird has me wondering just how troubled Elijah and in trouble, he truly is... "It was broken, Tony. You saw its wing. It wasn't going to be able to fly again. It's better that it died this way, quick and painless. It didn't need to suffer." "It's wrong that it wasn't even given a chance," Tony said, still believing somehow that they could have helped it. Elijah stared at him, his eyes cold. "It's a wrong world we live in then, isn't it?" "What is that supposed to mean?" Elijah shook his head. "Never mind. It was going to die, Tony; that's nature's way." He turned around and walked away. Tony picked up the mangled remains of the bird and wrapped it up in his shirt. Later that afternoon after Elijah had left, Tony buried it alone.

I had been meaning to check out some of your stories @CassieQ and am delighted I did so, this was truly delightful!!!

And I am left wondering why the Senator was in danger to begin with....

I suspect after this last frighting scare the boys will do more than get along...is the location of this pond by chance on the map the boys carry? After a long moment of silence, Josel thought aloud, "This is stupid. We will never get to Ipalos if we were at each other's throats all the time." So, Josel decided to try, "Listen, Monteilon... what if we called a truce?" Zdain raised himself up on one elbow and turned to Josel. "I have been wondering the same thing. Maybe we should try to get along."
