Another week is nearly over and so is January. Where did the time go? Time for some new prompts! Prompt 854 - Creative Tag - Snow You've come home early due to snow. There is already four inches and it is still falling. The problem is your town is in the middle of the desert, and the temperature has gone from 90 degrees to 31 degrees and it is supposed to be near zero degrees by sunset. What happened? Prompt 855 - Creative Tag - First Line "Wow, is that what you really want?" So there were some who took a shot at last week's prompts. For Prompt 852, @Mikiesboy wrote a great one. Give it a read here - https://gayauthors.org/story/mikiesboy/onlyprompts/27 So what do you think? Did you like one of the prompts? Hopefully, next week your prompt can be featured. Until next time. Remember to read, write, comment, and like.

"Oh, damn. Now what?" Mark turned as Trevor, his Doberman, ran past him and hid under the table. “Thanks, my big protector.” “Daaaaaaaaaaad,” wailed Eli from the living room. His cry going higher and reaching pitches that only a three-year-old could. Mark tossed the dishrag into the sink, wiping his hands on his sweatpants as he rushed to see what had scared the dog and made Eli cry. Eli stood in the middle of the room, the large basket of stuffed toys s

A mom who is "involved" in her son's life, a workman not afraid to interview his boss to get a date for his twin, and Ley a sweet guy who just had his whole day upset. You have a great setup, sweet scene, and like so many others, I'd love more. Thank you for taking the prompt and running with it. Wayne

Hello all and welcome to another Prompt Friday. Are you ready for another set of teasers? Well, here they are. Prompt 852 - Creative Tag - First Line "Oh, damn. Now what?" Prompt 853 - Creative Tag - The Library The librarian slowly crossed the room, carefully holding the small crystal on a pillowed tray. "Here is the life you wished to see. Just remember you will see and experience their entire life in twenty-four hours. Just be aware this will become a part of you. Are you sure you wish to read this life?" You nod, shaking with nerves. Whose life are you going to read? So those are the latest prompts for your consideration. Does either one appeal to you? If you do write one please list it in the prompt forum. There was a response to my first prompt when I returned to the site. Written by @Mikiesboy on Prompt 848. You can read it here - https://gayauthors.org/story/mikiesboy/onlyprompts/26 Until next time. Remember to read, write, comment, and like. Stay safe and well.

Prompt 848: "That was the last thing I ever expected to see."
comicfan commented on Mikiesboy's story chapter in Prompt 848: "That was the last thing I ever expected to see."
Well Tim, nice to see I can help get people out of a slump. As a recovering Catholic I can understand this all too well. Thank Christ, indeed. Wayne -
Welcome back to another Prompt Friday. I have some offerings to tempt you into writing. Prompt 850 - Creative Tag - List of Words Use the following words in a story - London Bridge, swiss chocolate, a torn ticket, a Welsh Corgi, and a blue umbrella. Prompt 851 - Creative Tag - Destiny It was the day from hell and you weren't sure you could handle any more stress. Falling into you bed, you curse, saying "It's all Destiny's fault." You wake to find an older man who is sitting at your desk, busily writing in an enormous book, between sips of coffee, and stroking his neat little beard. You ask who he is and he turns, pinning you with his stare. "I'm Destiny. I've never bothered you before, but now you have my attention." What have you gotten yourself into? So does either appeal to you? If you decide to write a story remember to link it in the Peeks and Prompt Forum. All short stories must be part of a collection. Are you glad I'm back? 😉 Until next time remember to read, write, comment, and like. Stay safe and healthy.

Greetings. Sorry if I am not a familiar face, but I had to take some time away from the site. However, I am back to tease and cajole you into possibly writing a prompt for us. Welcome to the prompts of 2021. Prompt 848 - Creative Tag - First Line "That was the last thing I ever expected to see." Prompt 849 - Creative Tag - New Man When you left work on Friday, your best friend told you he planned to start a weight loss program so he would be a new man by the end of the year. Monday morning you stroll into work and find a stranger sitting at your friend's desk. Everyone is treating him like your friend but he is taller, thinner, and a few years younger. Who is the new man and what happened to your friend? Remember short pieces must be part of a collection. Until next time remember to read, write, comment, and like. Stay safe and healthy.

I simply loved this story by Mann. Not saying anything about Rudolph by Mann other than read it. Lol.

Happy New Year 2021: Author Contest Here!
comicfan commented on Cia's blog entry in Gay Authors Archive
I have a small story I've used to keep myself sane the last month. Hope to type it up and have something new. Been a wild year and just need to focus. -
Nana, While I was writing this I was very focused on his scars so his recovery and a real chance at love wasn't even on my radar. Unfortunately, I know his story too well, but most of my stories are very much "happily ever after."

Thank you.

Thanks all. Guess who is back.

I hope people enjoyed. -
The holidays can be the best or worst of times. Hopefully getting the closure he needs will allow him to move. Interesting read for my return to the site.

Yes. It is a dangerous thing, cancer.

The past two months have taken a toll on me. There has been a lot of change. 11 years ago my mother passed. At the time I lived in Connecticut, but one call changed it. Not even a year later my father called and asked me to move back home. He didn't want to be alone. I was 40. Moving home seen the end of my dating, a rare night out every six months or so, and running to doctors for him or me. I had eye surgeries, a triple bypass, and felt the pressure to keep him going. I heard him tell people I was lazy, stupid, and not helpful. My self esteem nosedived, but I put on a smile and did as needed. This year he had nasal surgery on polyps that were growing. Then issues with his blood pressure. He took a fall in the bathroom and cut his head open. Two weeks later he woke throwing up blood. Failing kidneys, liver, retention of fluids, lung issues and more within his last weeks of life. He passed on last Friday, 14 hours after being taken off life support. He was finally buried on Wednesday. I had to handle everything alone because my brother lives in a high covid state, Florida. The emotional drain has been enormous. So for 10 years I have been the caregiver and my life has been on hold. I have to readjust how I view and do things. I can date. Who wants a broken down 50 year old? The door closed and a whole wall fell. Once I can figure out who I am, maybe I can live for me again. Sorry to ramble, just needed to vent.

Schadenfreude - Word of the Day - Sat Sep 5, 2020
comicfan commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
So guilty of this. -
I have seen work place romances crash and burn and also go on to become the things of legend. I think it truly is up to the people involved. Sorry this story didn't work for you, but it was a Valentine's Day Secret Admirer story. I hope you find something more agreeable for you.

Thank you. Basically was just looking to vent so I didn't wipe out the food in the fridge. Last two weeks have been stressful.
-
Thanks Val. I'm just trying my best. Can't catch a break. Keep me in your prayers.

Okay, so approximately two and half months ago my part of the world shut down. Public transport became empty, restaurants shut down, doctor offices closed, and life as we knew it came to a standstill. My job also closed but I was lucky, the pay kept rolling in. Then a month and a half in the company furloughed all part-timers and 20% of the full timers. However, once again I was lucky and the pay keeps coming in. They decided last week to reopen. We are paid for 36 hours and any hours we actually work we get an addition $2 an hour for. I am not complaining. After three years of health issues, I have been blessed not to catch this. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean everything has been great. Back in November my dad began to complain about his sense of smell. He was going to see his doctor and a lung specialist. He had been put on a nebulizer and figure that might be the issue. February rolls around and he heads to see the vein doctor and again is having issues and mentions it. The vein doctor suggests dad go see a nose, throat, and ear specialist. Enter Covid 19 and the close down. The second to last week of May, dad wakes me at one am. He is in deep pain, in his eyes. I call his eye doctor, who calls back before two am and has us meet her at her office. She states dad has an infection in his eyes, prescribes meds, is grateful that we listened and didn't take a chance to expose dad to covid by going to the hospital. Woman is a saint of a doctor. We feel things are looking up. The last week of May he finally gets to see the doctor for the nose. He finds my dad's nose has a lot of growths and has basically sealed the left nostril and part of the right. He doesn't do that surgery any more. He sends Dad for tests and an associate who works 30 minutes away, towards the city. The second Doctor sees the growths but also believes he spots a tumor and wants us to see a brain surgeon and go for better testing. The test was last Wednesday. There is a tumor growing behind the nasal passage, warping the bone between the nasal passage and the eye socket. However the brain surgeon is in Great Neck, minutes from NYC and has my dad panicked. He wrote the first doctor back begging him to do the surgery. He stated he doesn't handle that. He agreed to find him another doctor to handle the growths, not the tumor, and he is going to have them removed this Thursday. He wants to cancel the consultation with the brain surgeon on Friday. Meanwhile I am now stressed out, eating things I should not, and trying hard to just keep myself going. I was lucky to have two beautiful people help with a story I'd written for the Anthology but never managed to get fixed in time. I'll get it up when I can. Just didn't want things to crash and burn but they did. Wish me luck. At 81 my Dad is stubborn and a trip into NYC probably isn't going to happen.

Well we made it to the end of May. Who knew it could seem to last forever, but here we are. I have to admit, I have new prompts to distract you. Prompt 846 - Creative Tag - First Line "If you touch my child, I promise you, death would be considered a prize in the world of pain I'll create for you!" Prompt 847 - Creative Tag - Demon A month after signing the deal the demon shows up on your doorstep in the middle of the night. "What do you want?" You demand. "Look the deal is null and void," he began. "The hell it is," you scream at him. What deal did you make and why is the demon trying to cancel the deal? So, these are the latest bits of bait I have to entice you to write. If you do, please link them in the prompt forum. Until next time remember to read, write, comment, and like. Stay safe and well. We did have a taker on prompt 843. @Ivor Slipper took a shot, Read it and leave a comment. https://gayauthors.org/story/ivor-slipper/kissing-friends/1

Why is it after seeing all that all I can think of is the Green Man?
-
I love when someone takes one of the prompts and runs 180 degrees from where I imagined when creating them. This was well written and heart breaking. It leaves plenty of room if you want to expand it, and if not is beautiful as it is.

Here it comes again, just when I've begun to get myself together. Here is another Friday and another set of prompts. Let's jump right into them. Prompt 844 - Creative Tag - Royalty Having been laid off from your job you decide to play around online. You order a DNA test from one of the online ancestry sites and begin to fill in your family tree with the few facts you have. A week and a half later you get your results and an official letter from a small country you'd never heard of. You discover you are actually second in line for the throne, they want you to come and be trained, however, you need to give up everything here including your partner. Will you become royalty or stay a commoner? Prompt 845 - Creative Tag - First Line "Look what the cat dragged in and left in my damn bed! Crap." So ladies and gents, does either one appeal? If so please, link it in the prompt forum. Until next time, remember to read, write, comment, and like. Stay safe and well.
