  1. A story can be as "Erotic" as the "Plot" allows, however plots can be tricky beasts. Sex should not be for sex alone but should in some way forward the plot, otherwise, it does become pornographic. This can be fixed with a little judicial editing (adding plot, or subtracting sex scenes). If you think it might be too pornographic for this site, then it probably is, and it should be edited. If you are unsure, contact the mods that you have been pointed to. They are the only ones who can make that decision for you.
  2. Lugh is undefinable... and he likes it that way. Actually that's not true, Lugh defined himself a long time ago: Lugh [loo] n [1] hunter of plot slugs [2] muse slayer extrodinare [3] a primary consumer of books and tea [4] to trap -- lure with chocolate covered men [5] a little blue writerly type fey found plucking a keyboard on the eastern seaboard of turtle island
  3. You know, states like Utah need a "Gay Moving Day" where everyone gay friendly just move to California or something. That will teach them mormons.
  4. Well, I'm not a photography minded person, and I don't like change, but I do like the pictures on the front page. I would prefer them at the bottom, though, if that were an option, but they are ok where they are. I'll get used to them there. The changes, with the exception of the missing chat, are nice, Myr.
  5. OMG! Robbee is like LEGAL? Watch out boy here I come! heh Happy B'day!
  6. meh. deal with it, whiner, at least you still have a forum to look at.. I have no chat! (pouts and stamps his foot in typical tantrum fashion)
  7. one way that would fix the editor issue is to have a contest editing team.... all stories go to the team for editing and THEY don't even know who they belong to. it wouldn't be perfect, but it would even out the playing field somewhat.
  8. Thanks everyone!
  9. erm... oops! dances off gleefully giggling at the position they find themselves in... been there!
  10. YAY a most excellent debut! good job Rush.
  11. Graeme this was funny, good job in the writing of it!
  12. thanks eveyrone I really struggle with the last couple anthologies (the writing not the topics) and finally managed to get one in sorta under the wire (thanks Graeme and Linxe!). Your kind words make me turn my eyes and my keyboard toward the next one with hope that it will be just as well received. Thank you.
  13. Unlike some other people, I do see how these topics can be seperated -- just as voice and tone can be seperated in a literary discussion. Personally, I think I'm best at style followed with a tie in world building and characters with plot happening as a weak fourth. That might be why I do not often finish things... lack of plot... however the stories (although unfinished) do manage to get decent reviews (if people "get" them!). I deal with my weaknesses by writing things down, especially when it comes to plot, and trying hard to stay a step or three ahead of my characters, although that sometimes is a trick within itself. I don't think I really have to make my strengths "shine" as they are already memorable (ok raise your hand if you recall Jove!) but I would really love to FINISH a story one day.
  14. As most of you who know me know I know nothing about cars... well I need a new one. Bad. I was looking at the Saturn Vue or the Nissian Xterra. Does anyone have any opinions on these cars or suggestions for a similar model? Thanks!
  15. I write Sci-fi... it's not a matter of country / part of the country but which planet.... they play future pop? snerks.
  16. Ok guys I need some input here.. I need a couple names and I'm looking for some creative input. I have several clubs to name and two boy bands -- all who cater to a gay friendly atmosphere. All suggestions welcomed.
  17. I think that deciding where to skip time is one place an outline (or timeline) really helps. This way you can see where the action is and the parts that can be skipped with minimal comment. This also helps you to keep up with WHERE multiple characters are in time. As to the how of it... a comment on the time of day, the angle of the sun (or moon), the act of waking up, going to sleep, or eating a meal... or commenting on doing something that is not "normal" for the character (for example: Typically at this time, Peter would be crawling between his own cold sheets, but tonight he was sitting in a car watching Skippy's shadow dance across the window shade, wishing he could get the nerve up to....) Hope that helps...

  21. ok so I've been reading a lot of ebooks here of late... I was looking for a device on which to read them when I am away from my computer. I have looked at a couple PDA type devices, some tablet PCs, and of course the ever popular ebook readers. Any thoughts? Personally I would "like" a multi-use gadget... but the pirmary goal is to read ebooks. and please do not suggest the Kindle
