Yes, it's kind of difficult to keep track at times. Good notes and reading previous chapters are essential when picking up the story again. Speaking of which, I should get back to writing. Valentine's Day is tomorrow. Thanks for reading and commenting -
It's sort of funny to think about Jany having felt alone and unable to keep up relationships for more than a decade. And now he'll be in a house full of mates who wants him all the time. Not just for sex, but his company for conversation and moonlight walks and stuff. I still think Quinlan would be OK as a mate, he could still do his travel thing, but come home to them often. It's not as if he rejected January, he simply wasn't ready to settle down. And Jany thinks he's vivacious and kind, so that's a plus - and he's blond.

He is saved by the self-awareness he displays when the whining is about to get too bad. There's sadness but also pride in what he has done with his life. But underneath lurks the fear of loneliness and lack of work.

Did you carry some of these thought over into your Eric story ? The mood feels the same, except Eric hasn't got a computer.

I guess the only GA romances set in my home towns in Denmark will be the ones I write myself. If anyone uses a place I'm familiar with, it would be fun but I'd probably be critical of any mistakes. Especially spelling mistakes Thankfully, so far no one from London has called me out on any mistakes in the story I have set there. The author on GA who does the most meticulous research on locations, as far as I know, is @AC Benus. His story topics are usually filled with awesome pictures of places.

Thanks, Puppilull You're absolutely right. In fact anyone who gets chosen by a Companion of Valdemar experiences a huge change of circumstances and future. So that's pretty much a given, but I think Laryn may feel it keener than most. At least, he will have his uncles to help. -

I don't like the Winnie nickname, how about Wintry or Win ? I thought Zeth might have joked about having his face on Winter's inner thigh in private, as opposed to public.

I had the feeling their next mate would be a vampire. I hope the Goddess won't be too upset at Anubis meddling because January seems just right as their mate. Eilas was super-cute when a little drunk, so all in all the club visit was a huge success. Do we get to meet Quinlan the human next ?

In that case, I'm flattered you read my fanfic. And that you're not telling me I've desecrated the Valdemar world. I made an effort to capture the tone of the books and I checked maps and specific details in the books. But I'm not sure I could sustain a series of Laryn stories unless I have a beta reader who is familiar with Valdemar. -
OMG this may be my favorite LUST chapter ever. The interaction between Hazeth and Winter is simply priceless, and they have each nicely unsettled and attracted right from the start. And Elder Mason i s a wily matchmaker, lol. Such a lovely Valentine's gift - I'm gonna read this chapter five times at least.

I've never thought of it that way, but I guess you're right about the working hours and the disability. But I thought a lot of people in the US had to work 60 hours per week to make ends meet ? Frankie should perhaps have demanded more comforts, but he did have a happy, if lonely life. I'm not sure he could ever return to his tollbooth, even if the bad guys go to prison. Hopefully, Keyno can help him find another job and place to live. I would tell you I'd live up to your demand, but random stories sneak up on me sometimes. Thank you for all the chapter comment likes, btw.

Thanks. Yes it does, doesn't it? Jamie's punishment is so awful I almost couldn't bear the thought. As for the child-molesting I thought of the book Lolita, where the unconsummated love of the author (1st person POV) as a young teen was the root of his later unhealthy fascination with young teen girls. There is no excuse for preying on kids, but if we know where the sickness comes from, it might be prevented. And it's no secret a 'vocation' as a celibate Catholic priest can be seen by some as a way to escape forbidden sexual urges. Unfortunately, primitive needs (food, sleep, sex) are hard to repress.

Thanks, Jeffrey Even if you haven't read the Valdemar books, you did at least have the advantage of having read my prequel, and I'm glad this short glimpse whetted your appetite for more. I think most of the books can be purchased on kindle, if your library don't have them. I recommend starting with the Vanyel books (see Myr's Book Bazar) and the single story Brightly Burning. -

Thanks Spikey At least you did have some background to understand, especially the Holderkin background which Laryn has in common with Talia from the Arrows books. So as not to repeat myself, please see my replies above for how you can sample some more Valdemar fanfic and get to know Laryn's uncle Jonne. I'll do my best to return to Laryn at some point, but no promises. But having people like him so much, even from such a short glimpse, is a powerful motivation. -

Thansk, Parker I'm amazed how well this is received by readers who're not familiar with the Valdemar books, or even with my other Valdemar fanfic story here (see replies above for a link). I may do a follow-up chapter eventually (perhaps another anthology piece), but meanwhile you can try the prequel, since I can see you haven't read that. (sorry about making another shameless plug for my story ) Sweet of you to be worried about Nerith, but I think he'll be mostly relieved after a short period of sadness. He's realistic enough to know the danger and lack of future relationship with the Holder's grandson. -

Thanks, Carlos I'm grateful you gave it a try and the story did spark an interest. What more can a fanfic writer hope for? I certainly rarely read fanfic I don't have the background for, although @Lux Apollo's Running for Home is an exception. I know nothing of the X-men background story, but it's still immensely enjoyable. You'd probably like it too. If you do want to read a bit more, but not have to take on a whole book series, you could give my Valdemar anthology story a try. It's sort of a prequel to this story, but seen from Jonne's POV (and Vanyel's for the sex parts ).
