If Will is going to be a poster model for the idea that it's OK to use hard drugs as long as it doesn't impact your ability to function, then he's no longer someone I can admire. And you might want to consider this quote from GA Guidelines (my highlights): Any stories with these themes are subject to further moderator review and may be rejected: rape or sexual abuse for titillation, glorifying suicide or drug use, bestiality or cannibalism. Containing any content such as drug use, abuse of any kind, incest, suicide, etc… allowed on the site MUST be properly rated, tagged, and include written warnings added to the story and/or chapter notes to warn readers of what will be included in the story so readers sensitive to these subjects will not be unaware of the story or chapter themes.

Sad to read that many wonders of the Realms were destroyed due to the necessary withdrawal of power to protect the High King. I wasn't surprised that the Border was no longer so bad to cross, it was completely logical since the Dead Realm was changing. I loved that Ranevargar was able to distract and defy the bad guy.

Nicki is hilarious but also very caring and clever. She totally managed Simon's mum, so she couldn't embarrass her son too much.

I feel very sorry for Duncan, he's so lost without Brad. It would probably have been easier for his husband, at least with the practical matters, if it had been the other way round. But it's early days yet after his loss, and you're giving us hope for his future.

I was just thinking the same thing. All the weed smoking was bad enough, and now he's started doing coke and E ! Patrick may be fun in bed, but otherwise he's not good for Will.

Fragment Eleven: Layers
Timothy M. commented on ColumbusGuy's story chapter in Fragment Eleven: Layers
You weave a complex web, min ven, and we're all trying to find our way through the maze to get the answers. I'm not surprised the Gene enemies are trying to influence other fields of science too. Fortunately, the smart guys have a chance to escape, but only if they have the means, I guess. -
Awesome photos, but I'm not sure they live up to GA rules about almost nudity. Maybe if you stuck them in spoiler boxes ?

Simon's musings are understandable and his conclusions and decisions rational. But he wanders in circles and everything is focused on being gay. I still wish he would find some other interests, which could brighten his life.

Signature Author Special Review
Timothy M. commented on Renee Stevens's blog entry in Gay Authors News
LOL, I have to admit we're probably all feeling a little exhausted right now. But the nice comments mean it was worth it.- 14 comments

Chapter 124 The Assessment
Timothy M. commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 124 The Assessment
Somehow, that calm statement from Jo to Sue was much more effective than anything else she could have done, including confronting Don. I've very happy someone finally spelled it out in a way not even Don and Sue can ignore. -
It was OK, but long. I'll be off to bed soon, and hopefully I'll sleep well. Thankfully, I don't have any plans for the weekend.
-
Yay, I made it to page 1111 before we're past it. I'll have to leave for work soon. TGIF. Sleep well across the pond, good morning to other Europeans, and G'day to @Bucket1
-
My advice would be to ignore the post, i.e. don't react, don't quote, and don't talk about it. Hopefully, then only the poster should get warned / banned.

Black Widow (Story Discussion)
Timothy M. replied to Mark Arbour's topic in Mark Arbour Fan Club's Topics
I wouldn't mind that scenario either. (finally one thing the Tims might agree about !) -
I remember reading this several years ago, and being so shocked about the surprise ending, that I didn't know what to say. But it was a lovely romance and I'm going to comfort myself with the idea of Dan and Alex having had 10-12 happy years together and perhaps getting ready to adopt when Alex died.

Simon deserves praise for taking the initiative to clear the air between his mum and Niki. It's the first helpful and kind act I've seen him do.
-
Hmm, not the story I was thinking off, then. In that one, the poor guy lived with his alcoholic dad.

This came as a complete surprise at first. But I guess it's inevitable that it happens on GA too. IRL I'm a very trusting person, and I tend to believe what people tell me. (I guess I'm slightly autistic that way.) But the situation you describe on GA hasn't affected me, because I'm also a very private person, and I feel really uncomfortable when people share personal stuff. I try to ignore it, and this means I don't get caught up in the drama, which is lucky for me. And like Puppilull I feel sorry for people who have to resort to this kind of behavior to get attention. Especially since there are much better ways to make people notice you on GA: writing comments and reviews on stories, participate positively in blogs and topics, write a story, etc. I'm sorry for all the kind people here who have been caught by catfishing and have invested time and energy in someone, who was taking advantage of them. I hope you're able to tell yourself that believing their lies means you're a better person than them, someone with a good heart, honesty, and the ability to make true friends without resorting to deceit. I'm sure you've also found others like you here, because I know I have. It's good that we have the SMT to be vigilant for us, but it's sad that you have to spend resources on catfishers and other people creating drama for the sake of attention. Let us know what we can do to help, other than doing our best to stay calm when the situation erupts or members abruptly disappear.

It sounds familiar, but I can't come up with the story name. Can you recall any other details ?

We're only 12 pages away from reaching 1111 !

science New study on genetic factors related to Same Sex Relations
Timothy M. replied to W_L's topic in The Lounge
It's no different from a lot of other human genes which are only potentials until the right factors come along. You may be predisposed for music talent, cancer, mathematical ability, mental disorders, drawing skills, or whatever, but environment and opportunity may decide whether the potential becomes reality. Sometimes, a combination of genes may override the importance of environment, like when people who never smoked get lung cancer, and others smoke all their lives without contracting lung cancer, but for most humans it's the combination of smoking and predisposing genes. Or when the musical or mathematical skills are so huge and obvious, it overcomes adversity such as poverty, upbringing or repressive culture. For me, the most important part of identifying any genes which may play a role in same-sex attraction, is the added force it brings to counter the hateful and stupid idea that being gay is unnatural It happens in nature, it's part of the human genome, it's real, and it works well if accepted, so just stop with the bigotry already. -
Well, we finally got a Buy Greenland SATW comic, but it wasn't funny. One more day, and my August from Hell will be over. September should be better, I may even get a bit of writing done.
-
Of course. That's my reward for doing the editing. I get to see Gary's stories first.
-
Any time after September 1st I'll be able to edit fast. This week is still terribly busy, just as the rest of August has been.
