  1. Yes - yes, it is. 💛
  2. I mentioned in a comment recently, the insidious voices that whisper words of doubt in your own mind. Voices, dealing my entire life with depression, I know all too well. It brought this story to mind: Always, They Whisper. The author also has a spotlight article on the story that is quite insightful, but that should be read after you read the short story.
  3. I had a friend many years ago who converted to Judaism. It's a process that took seven (7) years -- and she'd been practicing for almost that long after. Her mom still called it "a phase." Try not to listen the doubting voices -- either the external ones, or the more insidious ones that whisper in your own mind. Be who you know you are meant to be; and know that there are those who love and support you, even if only through a keyboard.
  4. I want to repeat this -- it's a conversation I had to have with one of my Aunts. You can't help the person you need to help if you make yourself sick in the process. Glad your brother is in better shape @rickproehl
  5. Lake looks lovely. Hope you enjoy yourself
  6. OUCH!!
  7. Depression isn't for the weak. 😶 I've been in a down spot recently, and I'm sorry you're feeling down too; but I'm glad there is someone there for you. Song that comes to mind: Just Be by Paloma Faith - it's probably the most unromantic love song ever, but it's beautiful in it's reality. Let's get old together Let's be unhappy forever 'Cause there's no one in this world That I'd rather be unhappy with
  8. Hugs and love, for both you you.

    Just Breathe

Yes -- it's like a stormy day; you know the storm will end and the sun will come out again, but getting through the storm itself can still be a struggle.

    Moment

The sad thing is, I'd forgotten about this event due to the large number of events that have happened since then. 😢
  11. I'll agree with @droughtquake -- Bunny's job sounds like a place to work it you want to develop an ulcer and die early from stress-related illnesses.
  12. This is my favorite simple sauce for pork -- especially pork tenderloin: Maple-Balsamic Glaze - Combine equal parts of balsamic vinegar and maple syrup in a small saucier or saucepan (you can drop the amount of syrup to zero if you want to reduce the sweetness), and cook on a low boil until reduced by half. Honey can be substituted for the syrup for a slightly different flavor. Can also be used on Brussels sprouts [if you like those things], other meats, root veggies... pretty much anything.
  13. Quite true. Some of my best friends, who are more family than my blood family, live over 1000 to 3000 miles away, for those here in the USA and Canada. It maybe digital, but the feelings are still the same. Feel the same. We have a nice "family" here on this site; we share enough of our lives -- good and bad -- it's hard to not share in the joy and pain we feel as well. They may be just words on a screen, but the feelings behind them - from all of us I'm sure - are real.
  14. Sorry to hear about the split. Hope that things continue to get better for you as the days move forward.
  15. They break the heat until they end -- then they boost the humidity and raise the heat index the next day to tropical levels; at least around here. Made a good lunch (minus forgotten garlic). Going to be bad and order a pizza, and offset that (a bit) by riding my bike some. Actually made it to 30-min last night w/o the joints rebelling!
  16. I use one (normally) called "Out of Milk" -- but that doesn't help when you forget tot add it to the app. 🙃
  17. So annoying when you go to the store to get things then only realize you've forgotten something when you're in the middle of cooking. 😕 Hope everyone is having a good day (or evening, as case may be).
  18. Have fun, and enjoy yourself. 🏕️
  19. 💔💖 A lot of emotions in this story for me -- a lot of emotional connections to different parts of it -- and it brings back a lot of memories, but I truly do love it and am glad that you posted it here on GA.
  20. Loved the story when I read it the first time, and still loved it as you posted it here on GA. It's one that will have a lasting emotional impact on me, and will always bring up memories of my boy.
  21. Went to the Allergist this morning for the first time, and had the full 61-stick test. Results of what it says I am -- and am not -- allergic too don't match my life experience. Things it says I'm barely allergic too are things that are guaranteed to make me sick when they get high. We'll take the new stuff, see how it goes, and go back in about a month. Hate it when a song sneaks up on you and clubs you over the head with emotion. Had Pandora playing, and Gin Wigmore's, "I Will Love You" started playing: So if you die before I do, I know the heartache Will kill me too So if I ever live again, It will be to find you My Boy has been on my mind a lot the last few days. Not sure why. 💔
  22. I'm glad, for both of you. 💖
