Thanks so much Val. I hope you're crying for happiness sake because when I wrote it, that was my feeling. Though the two men had lost so much time, they were ready to move on together. I think their lives from 1996 on were very special. Del had been too scared to go Into the Fire back in the day, but he's ready to now. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Now I want to know what happens next! You created and solved a murder mystery but the dynamic between a not quite conventional beta like Gary and Bill feels like it's just starting. I want more Wayne! What gruesome encounter will they need to detect next?

What a wonderfully sad story! Your imagery with the use of smells was so evocative. His thoughts and memories were so vivid, as alive as those remembrances we have of moments that change us. They don't seem to fade. Fantastic job Yettie! I loved it though it was a tale of lost love. We all seem to have those things in our past.

That is a story ripped from the headlines you have portrayed really well. This seems to be a story of survival and a truly Good Samaritan. The first person in this story had a sense of empathy that demonstrated their characteristics clearly. Toby showed his resiliency and Evan is brave. Damn, to go out with someone with scars like these takes courage! Great job Val!!!

Wow. You did a great job portraying how "the Broken" go on. The patterns of abuse continue onward the lower the subject's self esteem goes. Less care is taken to find someone worthy of "the Broken's" affection. Not all of them have streaks this bad, but it does convey the reason some find one bad apple after another. I thought the hospital interludes were very effective at objectifying the pain. Very interesting device that worked quite well. Great job Wayne. Horrible subject matter but you handled it with finesse and tact. Very impressive!

Thanks Foster! It had me feeling a sense of that sharp discomfort you get when you can't decide something important. It almost hurts until it becomes settled. That's what I felt. It's very good.
