  1. Belated Happy Birthday Julian I hope it was great one with many more great days over the next year
  2. So saw something today and I thought of posting it to this topic because of it. Today I was in the big city and was in a sporting good store. There was people in line in front of me and I happened to have my interest piqued by a couple of guys that were probably in their late 30's, both tall, both fit, and talking and looking each others in the eyes. All of a sudden everyone heard a small child screaming 'Dads' and a little guy about 2-3 years old with blond curls everywhere come running up to the store and basically leap up into one of the guys arms. The guy, assuming his Dad asked what was wrong and with a full pout on his face the kid said Lisa said a bad word. At the same time, a maybe 12 year old girl appeared and the other guy asked her to come over and grabbed her hand. The people in front of the four of them had moved up and I realized the guy who was holding the girl's hand put his other hand on the small of the back of the guy trying to hug the little guy to death. They moved up and the salesgirl said, "I was wondering who these kids belonged to" in a friendly way as if joking. Both guys said they're ours together, and looked at each other and started smiling. Then the one guy holding the girl's hand said 'But some days we wish they weren't" with a smile and got a "Daaaaaaaaaad" from their daughter. It was very obvious that the two were a couple and the boy and girl were both of theirs. It was also at this time I noticed the identical bands on each guys ring finger. I also looked at the reaction of the other people in line and noticed that everyone was smiling and there wasn't any looks of disgust, This is what I see the allowing of gay marriage. It WILL change attitudes, it WILL change perspectives, i WILL give all of us the opportunity to be a couple in public. Yes there will be those who don't want it, but eventually they will be looked upon by the rest of society as racists are today after 60 years of progression of attitudes. I have hope for the future
  3. I voted May I suggest everyone go put down their preferences so we can have four great anthologies that our authors never fail to deliver on .
  4. Thanks for the chapter CJ When Bleu first commented about the reality of Jake, I must admit I was in agreement, but probably not for the same reasons. I just found it stupid (yes, a harsh word ) on Jake's part to run like that. Then I realised that Jake has been running from the law or other criminals for a long time now, so it is probably instinct in a way. The other thing that stood out in this chapter and hasn't been discussed is the tape recording of the ADA and police officer in the room. I can foresee different scenarios where a lawyer retained by Brett for Jake could use the tape to ensure an iron clad deal with the state and police. It would also be fair to believe that the ADA would underestimate the recording and dismiss it as just a criminal kid trying to get something. Imagine the head start anyone leaking the information to the media would have in the public relations war between the prosecution and Jake? I am looking forward to seeing how Jake will get out of this one. Steve PS, what kind of book did he pick up for Brett? Are we talking porn

Pennywise did make me never trust a clown ever again And i always look carefully aorund those storm sewer grates now. Though Tim Curry as Dr. Frank n Furter in Rocky Horror Picture Show left disturbing things in my head too. Wonder what it is with that guy?
  6. thanks for the chapter CJ so lots of little things going on. not being a fan of heights myself, i'm with Joel for not going up in the bosom chair. i just don't see it being safe to go up a mast that is very narrow and thin at the top on a pulley. no thanks. sanchez is using a local to build his bomb. the guy is known as the 'engineer'. could this be a cameo by graeme? after all he is an engineer, but i thought he was in australia, not in egypt. the dive sounded it would have been fun. i think i'm okay with seeing a picture of a moray eel but probably would have had a lump in the back of my speedos if i actually saw one. wait, that is just so wrong, i would never be caught in speedos i can't help to feel that alfred and bridget are starting to get careless. i'm sure gonzales must be getting a vibe that all is not right with the senior detective. i also wonder since they have multiple placards for their boat is the sea witch also may be known with a b instead of a w . borrowing a listening device might open up some eyes if someone else needs it. lastly it looks like joel is really going home. i really don't see anything that would prevent him from not going. lets hope trevor will be okay dogging the 'engineer' in egypt, the pirates in somalia, and the sharks in south africa, and then the jetsam and flotsam in the indian ocean.
  7. Happy Birthday Your Froginess Hope you had a great day, hopefully soaking up the sun on a lily pad in the pond snacking on the occasional fly that happened your way
  8. I have it on pretty good authority that even lawyers don't fair to well against Echidnas
  9. Hi Curbside, Welcome to GA . Like you I was first attracted to GA by Dom's stories. I guess I'm assuming that you have read some more Dom too? If you are looking for some other good coming out/coming of age stories then I will recommend two that I enjoyed. Not sure if my categorizing them is correct or not. First is Behind Those Eyes by Viv. It is in first person and has a great ending. I was immediately caught up with this story as it was released chapter by chapter. There is some secondary characters that will leave a lasting impression on you too. Second would be Living In Surreality by Shadowgod. It does have a bit of coming out of one character, but there is a twist in it that makes it one of my all time favourite stories. It is in third person, but the storyline, the descriptiveness and the characters I'm sure will make you forget about first person. I could recommend some other favourites but you should look around and see what you like. I can vouch that the two above are complete, so you can finish them in one sitting (if you can sit for 3-4 days straight ) if you want. Enjoy, and make sure you let us know what you think of the stories you read in the forums. Steve
  10. Oh my I haven't thanked CJ for the chapter and commented yet Thanks for the chapter CJ I wonder if there is any superstitions on if a black goat approaches you, or walks away from you . I imagine if a certain black goat with hell's fire in his eyes were to approach, it would definitely be the sign of death. I'm glad that you clarified that Bridget and Joel have only met once. This passage stood out to me in the chapter:
  11. Well I shouldn't have done it, but I did. I went to Hulu and watched the first two episodes. Now I'm hooked and don't know if I will be able to watch anymore Thanks Tim
  12. Don't forget Ellen quit cause she didn't like to be mean to people sometimes As a fourth, may I suggest Mick Jagger, then we can put Mick and Steven side by side and decide who has the biggest lips and who got hit by that stick more
  13. Happy Birthday KJames I hope it was a great one, and sorries for being a day late

    Callousness

I'm sorry to hear about that this has touched someone that you cared much for. Words won't take away the pain for you, your friend's family or their dad. Hang in there.
  15. Happy Birthday Jovian!! I'm so glad that you have so much to celebrate on your birthday this year Enjoy your day, you deserve it (even though with time zones, I'm probably a day late already )
  16. And we all know how much manure an average goat produces in a day......look at CJ's post count Sorries
  17. Trust it to you CJ You would be the first to post a cliffhanger of a picture
  18. Two shows came to mind immediately when mentioned fun and educational: Zoom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D16rOXiXu_w The Electric Company But watching these now, were all us kids on glue back then  .
  19. Happy Birthday Steve Hope you have a great day #1.
  20. Happy Birthday James Here's hoping the best looking Beast at GA has a great day
  21. Oh great, next we will hear about a crazed goat swimming out into the ocean to give a citation or arrest a whale for in his opinion, breaking the law. Maybe the whale was just playing
  22. Too bad that their isn't enough support to have a continuous protest for like 24 hours straight outside of their compound/church. I don't condone violence, and a peaceful, yet noisy protest, with signs speaking out the same way against the church's members might prove interesting. BTW, I use Church very loosely here
  23. Great chapter CJ and thanks I too was laughing at calm cool and collect Joel being all nervous and uptight about buying the ring . I know Trev was there for him, but I bet he will be reminding Joel of that day in future. In a way I'm glad that Trevor's little show to Joel on the safety of Atlantis and how it could handle weather did backfire a little when Joel asked about getting knocked down or capsized. It seemed to bring Trevor back to reality that even if he could show off his boat in the winds in the Aegean, that mother nature still held the trump card when it comes to his survival. Maybe a little bit humbling? I was really enjoying this chapter but you had to mention Bridget in the one sentence. I just hope that Trevor forgets to give her his number and ends up starting his transit of the Suez earlier than what he originally planned. I wonder if Joel will be departing in the next chapter and then if it will be right to the Suez, or if there might be some drama to happen first. I would imagine you need to insert a major cliffhanger in the near future Thanks again Steve
