  1. Saw that one One of the things that amaze me is 40 years ago, there really wasn't much computers...definitely not home computers. So nowadays, with the DSN all run by computers, they are still able to communicate by sending radio communications to the Voyager spacecraft and they respond. Likewise, on Earth, they can receive telecommunications from the spacecraft and use the computers to better interpret the data and pictures. Imagine if these spacecraft had the technology that we had today. What is already amazing in real life would even be more amazing!

  7. Hey Mikie (am I allowed to still call you that ) I know this has happened in the short term, and i want to take a slightly different approach on how you should look at the short term and it might influence the long term. Growing up, my older sister was always at odds with my dad, but so was I. Little sister never got in trouble. Dad was the disciplinary of the house, but Mom and him always discussed before hand what happened. Probably between 14 and 19 my sister and dad never talked. So she moved out and on her own, in her late twenties she decided to go get her palms read, or something along that lines about relationship advice. Anyways, she was 'told' that she had too much misdirected anger towards my dad that she needed to release this and realize that our Mom was the true bad parent for not standing up for her. She shared this with my little sister who told me, but I kept my mouth shut. Needless to say, she started singing Dad's praises and criticizing Mom all the time. She actually turned a cold shoulder to Mom. Fast forward 15 years, Mom was diagnose with end stage ovarian cancer 5 months before she passed away fighting. To this day, my sister regrets everything that she said and did and thought about Mom and felt it was too late to make up for what she should have done 15 years earlier. Mikie, think how you will feel in 10 to 15 years, or how he will. What I'm saying is you are the older adult here, don't be scared to be the adult and talk with him face to face as adults. Tell him how he made you feel and ask him how he feels about it. If you admit you are bi, that is entirely up to you. I'm sure if you are that close, with you actively trying to resolve this, it will work out for you in the short term and long term as well.
  8. Can I propose a 3rd option from drug bust or Jake? Luke At his age he must be out with his friends for the day. What if he said to a friend that Alex has a funny speaking boy locked up in the basement? Then the police got it 3rd hand, then it could be a SWAT tactical hostage rescue very quickly. Just saying

  14. First off, I'm thankful there is only a Like this button and not a Hit this guy over the head with a hammer button Was Robbie justified in his actions and running away, yes. Was Don justified in his actions and the way he thought he should handle it, yes. Was Daniel justified in his actions and the way he handled it, yes. So, why? I don't think anyone would say that Robbie wasn't justified. We have to remember that he is 15. He has had his life uprooted from London, come to live with perfect strangers, learning the lay of the land, Meeting new people, some who would use him, some who he has used. Sounds like a normal 15 year old, doesn't it? The idea that everyone would blow rainbow farts out of unicorn butts on hearing the news that Robbie is gay, would be great in Robbie's opinion, unfortunately reality isn't always that way. He should be hurt, mad, angry, wanting nothing to do with Don and really Don's family after that discussion/fight. Don, well as mentioned in the story, we didn't really know much about him. We knew from Daniel's account that Don was leery about Nathan when Nathan came out, but he didn't put his foot down, and forbid Daniel from hanging out. We know Don is a mover and a shaker in town, so his own personal image on the town is probably something on his mind. So Don did what Don thought at the moment was right? Forbid Robbie from seeing Nathan and hope that he could be straight. Remember, Don has known about Robbie's sexuality for what a few hours? He knows that Robbie isn't his own son, but deep down he wants what is best for Robbie. Ask yourself, would any parent even ones that support their gay kids 1000%, wish somewhat that their kid would be straight? To make life easier, to make the hurt for them to be prevented? I honestly believe that Don loves Robbie like one of his own, and if he could have a redo, he definitely take it after reflection on what happened. Let's be honest here, most heterosexual males that are head of the house (or feel they are) react in a negative way in some way to hearing that one of their kids is gay. It is a unpleasant but actual fact. Daniel. I'm going to say poor Daniel. I really do feel sorry for him in a lot of ways. He was the 'guy' of the house and seems to be so even tempered and laise faire with situations, he finally hit his boiling point as mention by Clo. Who hasn't had a friend that they wanted to move in with for the first time, and then over time you realize that their mannerisms and such start to grind on you? Thing is you can get rid of the roommate or move out yourself. What choice does Daniel have in this? I would say Don and Sue took Daniel for granted. Now, his probably still best friend is doing stuff with his future brother. He has had to share his room, share his school, share his family and now his best friend!!! What 14 y/o kid could tolerate the ever escalating upheaval of their own life to benefit someone else? I'm really surprised it hasn't happened before! So, everyone is justified in their reactions when you look at it. The thing is Dodger has written his characters in probably what would happen in real life. The conflict and results are all believable and really are what may have happened to someone he knows. It really isn't out of the realm of possibility. The thing is, we can't vilify everyone that isn't blowing those rainbow farts out of unicorn butts. What we can do is impatiently ( ) wait for the next chapter to see how people react to what happens and see what they do to change the original conflict and help to resolve it. That will determine what kind of people they really are!! Just as everyone is justified in their horror and dislike of Don and Daniel, lets see if they are more than this one brief look.

    Chapter 2 of 2

Interesting, I had 4 definite crushes on friends in HS. None of them were gay I guess this is why it is called fiction, right? i guess I'm a bit jaded when I read stories like this, but I'm sure there is some stories that are true. But being the sucker I am, I do keep coming back for more. Maybe jaded isn't the right word since I do actually like reading stories like this. I liked this as an introduction to possible new characters for a story. What I like about your stories Dodger is that you seem to capture the dialogue and human characters in a way that intrigues me. Like I said, never happened to me, but I like to hold out hope for others. Oh, and the four friends, they all know I'm gay and I have stood up for 3 of the 4 at their weddings always the bridesmaid, never the bride
  19. This chapter has been reviewed by the SMT and the author has agreed to the adjusted warnings at the top. Since most comments would be moot with the warning, they have been removed. Thanks.

    Part Two

Okay, I had to go back and reread the entire first chapter. It was because I began to realize that maybe George/Georgie is a gurl Dodger, did you plan to write chapter 1 without a pronoun or any reference to the first person narrator, you cheeky monkey. but then again, except at the end, we still don't know the sex of the main character 100%. Put me out of my misery Either or, enjoying the story and thanks for sharing.

  24. I can totally sympathize Reader Last year at this time my Dad was 6 months into living back in my (and sisters) home town. We would take him to a doctor who would refer him to another doctor and tell us what to tell the new doctor and when to get the appointment for. None of us have medical background and we inadvertently forget something and have to go back to the original doctor. At one time there was 7 different doctors on the go. I don't think it really matters where you live or how your healthcare is delivered, communication always seems to be the one breakdown that isn't taught enough to all the people from receptionist to doctor, or if it is it isn't practiced enough. My province at least is going online now on a lot of issues, so if you go into a lab for blood work, as soon as the results are done they are posted on the intranet so doctors can see. Same with xrays, ekgs, and other tests. The worse part of all this is now you will have to wait until after mid July to get your surgery done. Hang in there
