I find it a little bit inconsistent that the house is supposed to be totally safe and apparently undiscoverable by the 'crook'. Yet, Zeke can order Chinese and have it delivered. Still, Zeke needs major help in dealing with Tyler's emotional and psychological problems. Yes, he wants to help, but so far, the only help he is providing is hiding Tyler under the pretense of Tyler's death. I am enjoying this story and would love to see more frequent postings...hint, hint!

Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool in the hands of a skilled therapist. Great format for the beginning of a story. Looking forward to the development.

I like the format of this chapter - it shows growth, however slow, for Lee. Avery is responsible for bringing him out ever so little. I hope Lee realizes the dream/nightmare was his mind actually reflecting reality to him. Clay and Greg have a real challenge before them. I hope Lee is able to respond and grow rather than falling back into his personal script that he is worthless. That's a hard script to break and rewrite. As for the the title, it is at once the hope and the challenge that is Lee in my view. Tony

Cadet Fourth Class • III
pvtguy commented on Carlos Hazday's story chapter in Cadet Fourth Class • III
Yet this is true to life: friends and family all move on as life progresses. That which forms their bond will not disappear; rather, it will always be there. It also gives them the base for developing new "squads" and chosen family elsewhere. Therein lies the challenge we all face as we age. -

I love the family dynamics. It is very similar to the way my son and I interact - love, respect and a lot of teasing each other. They have lots of wealth, but are also very down to earth and personable - not haughty at all. Thanks for sharing the break in routine for Ritch and Will...now back to the grind! -
But they were called away before any action could be taken. And, they haven't left the grounds yet...

Oh yes... I did enjoy the festival - felt like I was there. But must say, I was more interested in how Rick was reacting to everything. He learned a lot about Gus as well as music! I certainly was hoping that Gus or Rick bought the metronome! I love beautiful wood (double entendre intended!).

Ah, Rick! I do hope you are able to change your personal script and realize you are very much desirable and allow that to bring with it some confidence! Great chapter once again! The calm before the storm?

That first visit home in uniform does have a lot of emotions, pride, excitement - and strangely enough - eagerness to return to the new 'normal'. Great chapter - I truly enjoyed reading about the holidays. The only thing missing, in my opinion, is the lack of precautions noted with the raging COVID mess...but glad to see so many of the characters that make up this 'family'. -

There was a time briefly that age of drinking and age of majority were the same...then came along the moralists who decided the age of drinking should be returned to 21 and it has never changed. Yes...we do recognize it, but guess there's not enough push to get it changed. -
For whatever reason, I missed the original posting and only got to read this chapter today. It was delightful. I empathize with Rick: having a father who never respected him as an individual is disheartening. The moment when Rick fully stands up to Heinrich will be so cathartic! Can't wait for that to happen! Maybe Sr. will get "screwed" royally by Rita and have an apopleptic reaction...

I love any story you post! Always interesting, well thought out and thought provoking! This one is no different. Of course, the world of CJ is compelling - even through the extended family! I had to chuckle out loud: The next morning, after Will was done with him, Ritch could not believe how much his ass hurt. “Bro, you’re walking funny.” Will avoided the punch Ritch threw at him. “All you need are boots and a Stetson, instead of sneakers and a ball cap, and you’ll look like a cowboy.” The tease was well done!!

Hmm...what is going on with Todd? It's as though his actions might have been "enhanced" a bit! In any case, a nice read!

So, I am late in reading this chapter...it is four days after the insurrection in DC...and reading this actually brought more into focus for me. How you frame the events and at the same time give a wonderful Civics lesson is amazing. Well done! I love all your stories, but seeing things through Thiago's eyes is special. Thanks. Tony F

Once again, your descriptions are so vivid that I feel like the fly on the wall, or rather flying around, observing the entire scene. I am like Bailey - I wonder how he got to be as he is... Wonderful chapter. And, as always, you've left me wanting more soon! Tony

I absolutely love the composition of Libera Me from Faure's requiem. It so aptly captures this moment in Rick's life: he needs to be released from the the hell of his existence. I am looking forward to the "In paradisum", which is the most glorious moment of the progression from the lowest moment of grief to the ecstasy of joy in resurrection.

Methinks thou art writing a symphony here!

Perhaps Rick will find out what Rita's schemes involve and might be able to interrupt them for the sake of Eagle Lake! I hope he gets into a real argument with his father and stands up to him for his own good. That would be a real step in healing!

And now he mystery deepens. I really like how you describe the panic and issues Tyler is facing and how he tries to exert personal control over what he can in his life. I do want to see how this develops! Post quickly, please!

And you are a true artist with words, Mac Roundtree. This was an absolutely delicious chapter!

The rawness of the story makes it even more appealing. You have such a way to tell a story and I'm looking forward to every posting! Just don't keep us waiting too long, please! Tony F

Maybe Heinrich senior is having medical problems from the exertion....too much to hope for? Perhaps on the other hand, he will be the one to expose Rita. I am looking forward to the next posting!

Definitely a nice Christmas story! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Very accurate portrayal of many families...

Rick may have found the perfect way to get his father to see has been taken for a fool: Rita! Sometimes being patient and/or passive/aggressive works!
