We can't really say Asa's power is minor. He did enough h to save Caleb's life and the horse's condition isn't life threatening. If he went around healing everything around him, his powers wouldn't be secret for long.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Duke arranged this convenient accident. He was plainly out of favor with the king and was being sidelined. This sudden death will make him regent for eighteen years. A horse doesn't just drop dead and fall on its rider from being jostled.
Lothar succeeded in separating Ed and Fran, but at a tremendous cost. Fran has revealed himself to Edward as The Fiend by confessing all his plans. To Edward, Fran was still the innocent young lordling he once knew, but now he is revealed as the monster crafted from his plight. Fran may still get a title and lands, but it will have cost him dearly. I don't believe Edward will be back.
Martina may have control of the money, but only under the auspices of the refuge. I can't see paying for criminal legal defense for a volunteer being a valid expense if I were a trustee. Only if the refuge was legally at risk would it be possible.
Calhoun is a nasty piece of work. Bringing up what happened to Michael's family was a brutal tactic. From the paperwork he had he had to know it might cause an episode. My question here is how he got them. Federal agent or not, you can't just ask for it and get it. He'd need to know the records existed and where and get a subpoena. It's hard to believe he did all this so fast.
The good news here is Chase is still in his corner and we learned the background of their past and the trauma Michael suffered.
There is a lot to be admired about the open maw of a double barrel, but the awesome and universally recognized shuck shuck of a pump beats it hands down.
