    Chapter 21 S1

It occurred to me while Devin was teaching Mac we are often looking without seeing in depth what we are observing. This motion exercise could have been easier if videoed and played back in slow motion. I can see how unnatural all these movements would be for humans. I don't plan trying galloping. I can already imagine trying to explain how I fractured a limb while on all fours.

    Chapter 33

The irony and comeuppance here is deep. Porvus and Lodda placing mental controls on others to follow their will only to b egin blindly obeying the demands of a machine is a hoot. For Lodda himself to fall under thrall of the oracle on the ring adds a cherry on top of the whipped cream. The master plotters have become mere pawns in the chess game of a machine. The priority here is for this world to remain isolated and safe. Traveling away from this world, while adventurous, would be folly. The oracle on the ring had to be under the control of the enemies of this world and now directs the damaged one. Porvus is hardly open. We still don't know how the enemy was destroyed or where the weapon which did it is at.
  3. The clip with Pesci and the great Fred Gwynne is one I remember every time I see the word youth. It's hard to wrap my head around why Fred's grave is unmarked. No one seems to know a reason.
  4. I just can't see myself doing it. I don't do breaks.

    Chapter 32

Not a likely scenario. Thorvil knows his boys and they have oodles of witnesses.

    Chapter 32

Read it in The Ancient Times?

    Chapter 32

Well, Miss Cleo is deader than Caesar, so there goes that option.

    Chapter 32

It's not catching. I always had it. Is it what Col. Kurtz meant?

    Chapter 32

In a Lodda Da Vidda Baby?

    Chapter 32

This 'ghosting' is an entirely new application of magic. They are using it now to spy and translocate through solid objects, but could it also be used with offensive magic to go through shields? From Porvus' words, Lodda has been transformed into something else, presumably using the technology of the ancients and is now pursuing goals which threaten the entire world and even the evil hearted Porvus is worried enough to join with their enemies. Now this is a twist I didn't see coming. Like Snave says, you can't trust Porvus. I feel only Jamie should be seen in this meeting. Lodda was described by other mages as a wraith. What has he become and what additional powers has he gained? It's odd Lauten made no mention of this.

    Chapter 8

For a variety of reasons. You've never had a headache until you've had a nitro headache.
  12. I've been told I have a great imagination, but it fails me to entertain delaying a read so long.
  13. You need to read The Case of the Short, Short Prince which is ongoing now.

    Chapter 4

You aren't being too punderous for me.

    Chapter 4

Without it, it would be no pun at all.
  16. We'll find something else.

    Chapter 31

I doubt we could identify a switchgear which could handle this amount of power flawlessly for four thousand years.

    Chapter 31

There is likely a way to cut power off, but it would be in a room where they would be quickly detected, they can't yet read the language, and the power could be restored as quickly as it was cut. They would have to damage something to achieve a result and it probably couldn't be fixed.

    Chapter 31

I think it compares better to the unexpected air attack on Tokyo.

    Chapter 31

The wolf clans are more numerous than we knew and that they live in structures created for them by the ancients is another sign they were allies long ago. We are at Methuwan, but we still have a long way to go. This will not be resolved easily. I sense some twists and turns ahead. The enemy may not have detected them, but they are expecting them and surely they know about the battle at the other city by now.

    Chapter 30

I think the maypole became the didpole.
  22. I called someone yesterday, "Hey, you remember Coot?" Of course they did. They also agreed he reminded them of Gollum to an uncanny degree.

    Chapter 30

I suspect this is only the first of many missions Thorvil will send our group out on. They are too valuable a resource to just sit around. Snave himself said he would no longer be content to always stand by the shop door.
  24. Agnosia and agnostic derive from the same Greek word for lack of knowledge, ignorance.

    Chapter 30

Right now they are all focused on the threat and immediate future as they should be. Jamie and Garvin have vague notions of returning to their quiet life at the shop. Jamie, being the humble and unassuming boy he is, will very likely do just that, even though he has become the Master Mage of all Mages in ten or so days. Much of what he's learned and done will need to remain a secret.
