    Chapter 17

Even large dragons like Valrinda aren't safe from some of the dangers of this world. For Beckett, the hardship of trying to avoid possible troubles might be more grueling than the troubles themselves.

    Chapter 20

    Typically, for them.

    Chapter 20

Hopefully, it will engender some terror in the arrogant asses.

    Chapter 20

I think he would have to have been there when the magic was done to know how to undo it.

    Chapter 20

This quest began with the innocent and naive notion it would be limited to somehow making Urvan undo his rather minor curse on Sedwick. The enormity of the evil the Forest Mages are doing has finally sunk in. The reality they will need to exact final justice has hit Jamie hard. Killing, even in the cause of good, hadn't been cause for thought until he was faced with it. It seems the Knack is slowly awakening in the peoples of the lowland. Where will this trend lead?

    Chapter 16

Delivering payloads to a certain, fixed orbit would be a possibility for the rockets. Though we've yet to see any launch site for much larger space vehicles.
  7. Sorry, @raven1@Bill Wbut the wilder the ride, the better.

    Chapter 19 S1

I'm a bit surprised Mac didn't get put on the spot to elaborate what he'd learned while researching his 'trip.' You have to be prepared to back up a deception. In a way it's satisfying he isn't more skilled at deceit.

    Chapter 19

It's too soon to say it's not fusion. We've seen they had machines repairing and maintaining machines. There would certainly be something similar taking care of something as vital as power.

    Chapter 19

They are benefiting greatly by proceeding at a sure yet moderate pace. It's allowing them to accumulate the skills and knowledge they will need for the confrontation to come. As Snave says, simply working together and freely sharing puts them ahead of the enemies they face. Now who or what has died in this desolate place?

    Chapter 18

    Shhhh...

    Chapter 18

The ancients manufactured food from raw materials. Would it be a stretch they made fresh water too?

    Chapter 8

    LOL It wouldn't hurt.

    Chapter 18

Not to be negative, but sometimes they burst.

    Chapter 18

Our gang covered a lot of ground, both mentally and physically. It helped greatly to have refreshing showers, hot meals, and soft beds. If most of this journey continues this way, this task will not be so trying. Jamie is pioneering an entirely new vision of the nature of magic and its relation to the nether. Their next visit there promises to be most interesting.

    Chapter 17

It takes immense heat to literally burn stone and metal in an instant, like the contact of the sun. The persisting poison of the land and clothing is the other clue.

    Chapter 17

You're thinking in terms of a power plant rather than a weapon. Modern nuclear weapons are fusion devices.
  18. Yes. I do it too. Though now that I no longer have cats, these are mostly silent. Except the profane ones.

    Chapter 17

The Breath of the Dragon, which is most certainly nuclear fusion, still requires the presence of a device somewhere relatively close to initiate it, so it doesn't eliminate the rockets.

    Chapter 17

Don't fear the nasty man with the eye patch, but the one who took the eye.

    Chapter 17

After thinking on these events, it's hard to believe mages have never battled each other with lightning bolts. It is one of the most elemental powers. Unless it's part of the lost knowledge.

    Chapter 17

I'd say more like pirates and thieves trying to take advantage of the technology for their own ends. They've been after it longer and have an advantage at this point, but as Jamie learns this advantage dwindles.

    Chapter 17

    Body armor would be prudent.

    Chapter 17

But if they had followed this edict, they wouldn't have come so far so quickly. I'm all for a bit of poking around myself.

    Chapter 17

Their quest lies further on, but they've seen the face of their enemy and now know they might be formidable but not all knowing or omnipotent.
