  1. Thanks, Val! I’m very glad you enjoyed these. I know you would have liked my old friend on the hill. My April 3 tie is in the back of my tie rack. The pines got planted in regimented rows - even after years of storms and bad winters, they still look like soldiers in formation. Thanks for reading and reflecting on these.
  2. I’m very glad you read these, and I am grateful for your response. April 3 just about wrote itself; I wasn’t sure where it wanted to take me at first. A hawthorn tree here is about the size of an apple tree, and just as tough.
  3. Thank you, Adi, for reading these and reflecting on them. April 7 is a little melancholy: she’s gone now, my old white and brown friend. But I was fortunate to know her. Let me know how the association brought to mind in April 6 came about. I’m glad April 3 made you smile. I still grin at it, too. Funny that I think of April 4 as a lullaby. Perhaps it is the rhythm of it. I want to pry open April 2’s door. And I’m glad we have a mutual friend in April 1.
  4. Dugh, I’m so glad you liked these. I envy you your bluebirds; they never fail to lift my heart. There are some days when it’s just as much torture to teach as it is to be a student in class... I hope an April friend will cross your path today. Thank you so much for reading and for responding.
  5. Thank you, Dodger! I am so very happy these connected with you. I’m especially glad you liked April 4; it was a bit of an experiment. Like you, I saw poetry as something distant and mysterious. Then I found @AC Benus‘s Poetry Prompts, and they re-opened that world for me.
  6. April 1 April, fey, capricious, green-eyed and grey-clad youth, dancing in puddles for its sheer delight; come play, open crocuses and colt’s-foot, awaken bees and bears, and call me as your love. April 2 Open then this door fixed tightly shut with straight nails hand-forged by the blacksmith and sealed by expectations of our ancestors against newfangled winds that might blow from the direction

  8. Well, as a perfectly neutral reader, I’m able to tell you I enjoyed two chapters immensely. Thank you for unbinding this story...
  9. I have some trees I’d be glad to let you have a go at...
  10. I am . I spent time uncovering flower beds yesterday, and loved finding treasures emerging. Sorry about your missing pages. That’s so frustrating when that happens.
  11. The sun is warming the earth around my garden; new flowers emerging, and I can open the windows again... happy Sunday to everyone.
  12. Hello, everyone. I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday.

I like what I’m reading. You’ve given Wren more dimensions and drawn me into his backstory. Of course I’m looking forward to another chapter.
  14. I’m very sorry you’ve had to endure the unwanted intrusions of your coworkers. I also teach in a close knit school community. What you say sounds all too true to the experience here. My thoughts and hopes are with you.
  15. I enjoyed each of your first six poems. Number 1 for the Robin, of course; Number 6 for its details of taste, touch and scent; and who can resist Chinese cats in Number 4?

    Day 1 - Day 5

Adi, these are marvelous. Peter particularly tickled my fancy, as did the Jacaranda. I’m so glad you undertook these.

Oh, grounded? I laughed enough to draw notice. Great chapter. You accentuate the changes happening in CJ and Owen - they are becoming men in their own right, though César had a little trouble with that. But that trouble will pass.

Seems like there are several antiheroes here. I’m not sure who I like or why. Yet this first chapter piqued my interest. Looking forward to more.
  19. I’m grateful you take the time to share these best parts of yourself with us. How fortunate I feel that I am the beneficiary of your pen.
  20. Awesome chapter - moving out, bed linens and all. Theo and Sablo are fighting, but not through as a couple yet. Can’t wait until they make up. Soon, please?

    Secrets

Great chapter. You open up a number of lines of questions, plus there’s much more to learn about the lumberjacks. And of course, I’d love to wake up with Jed and Wolfgang any morning.
  22. I’m very glad you’re okay. It sounds really alarming.

    Fallout

Natalie can hardly be blamed for feeling bitter and unhappy if she feels she’s losing the man she wants. Alex was the proximate cause, but she’s not yet hearing that she’d have wound up in sorrow sooner or later. Now Jeremy and Alex don’t have to hide.
