So panful and random. The bombs dropped everywhere and killed anyone in the way. Dr Dpencer was their first close associate or mentor killed. They went through a range of emotions, Mr Hopkins knew the pain of war from his WWI duty. George lost Nathan at Dunkirk. This death was in the present and unexpected and so wrong by killing a medical person who saved lives. Hospitals are not supposed to be bombed. The Germans are violated international peace treaties and established practices. George finally reacted by deciding to become a doctor like Dr Spencer who would be his model. George now has a focus and has resolved to make something meaningful of himself. He won't drift or wallow in doubt or guilt. Someone needs to tell Carl when he becomes awake. Carl may have guilt issues ( was he the reason Dr Spencer died? )and will need reinforcement and counseling.

I think Gabe can handle the team jelousy and and Ridley worries of standing out and bragging. The other team players have been featured. He could included an overview and cite them briefly and take the theme that the whole team is exceptional and winning so many games because of the unique blending of all the strengths and individual wills of the team at this point in time. Gabe adds shooting strengths, among other things. The movie Hoosiers told the true story of a very small high school barely able to field 5 players in a tiny town winning the Indiana state highschool basketball championship in the Butler Fieldhouse against the much larger powerhouse high schools with long winning records and great depth of players. The right mixture of players with one great shooter and determined coach and a fierce will to win made them successful and broke the record books. My point is that Gabe can say it's the right time with the right combination of players for the wins to keep coming.

Now , that is a big switch. Gabe is writing the article, not Mari. As it turned out,Gabe got some answers and background that Mari would not. The story has the potential to further upset his team by making him too much of a star and that could cause the game to be more stressful for the players. Also the story could upset Ridley by being too open about his family and dad's situation. In any event, something will come out . Gabe said to Ridley--You can trust me. I hope he can. I think Gabe will want to write a positive story and will want to see more of Ridley. Ridley, I think, made a mistake. He said Gabe could not use anything he told him. If Gabe kept to that limit, he would have to rely on nonverbal communications, cues from his room and home and pics, family dynamics and conversations with Ridley's mom and maybe his fomer friend , Matt. I am looking forward to the next chapter , the newspaper story and seeing more of what I hope will be a Ridley/Gabe interplay. Ridley is so deep in the closet that he isn't able to understand Gabe. But he does seem to be able to attract a willing helper doctor to try find peace but eventually both collapse from the explosions. The doctor is seriously injured and Carl stays with him at the risk of his own life. While terrified, Carl keeps his gentle nature and yearns to not lose touch with those people who mean so much to him. He dreams. Poor Carl--trama upon trama. He is going to need real help to recover. He has fodder for many more nightmares now. The hospital must be a mess. I hope he and the doctor are found soon and both find a place less open to bombing. The Hopkins and George have to be very worried
