This is a leap of faith in a v different direction to what one might have thought. The story is, of course, beautifully written as one has come to expect of this highly competent author, but this time I feel the author has put themselves “out there”, out of their comfort zone, and allowed true feelings to emerge. It reads like a cross between a story and an essay. Im not sure that I “enjoyed” it but it has got me thinking, a lot. And for that I truly thank this great author. X

A thought-provoking piece. As someone whom”lost” his Catholic faith 25 yrs ago, initially this anthology didn’t appeal to me. But I. Now on the third piece and am thoroughly enjoying the writings. Many thanks @kbois your tale is beautifully told and your later comments show how coherent your arguments are. 🤗

another reviewer used the word ‘beautiful’ and this really is a beautifully told story. Post war, post combat, two damaged heroes( in my humble opinion) edge closer and closer. I know the author has many fans for her great stories from a different genre, but this story show real quality and gritty realism. I absolutely loved it. Bravo!!!

Would you, a fairly popular guy, take a leap of faith and chat to the loner who eats on his own? This a tale of such a leap and it is beautifully told. Highly recommended.

V enjoyable read. I celebrated 50 yrs of “best friendship” in September. Turned out we were both gay, he totally sure, me dreading it might be true. I finally ‘fessed up on 21st birthday

Well-used in my childhood in Manchester and Redditch. Not so much “down south” where I was ridiculed as a 10 yr old for my “weird” northern accent….

Just when we think we have guessed what Mark A is up to he pulls the rug from beneath us and leaves us gasping as he strolls away laughing…. I could kill him but then I wouldn’t get to know the end of Gap Year ( or Northern Exposure). mark you are the king of GA. 🙇♀️

Great chp Mark and, as you say, we are in 2004. Perhaps Hollywood in 2024 will be freer… but I doubt it. Such a good installment and lots to come drama wise, I suspect. Thanks 🙏

Ok, up front I really dislike cats. However, even the stray who waits, annoyingly, outside the apartment block to be fed by her fans, seems to love me. Why? So a tale involving Martini the cat didn’t jump up to be read at first sight. However, even for non-feline fans this is a lovely anthology story which I really enjoyed. well worth reading. Thank you @kbois
