    Sadly, my small family is facing many of these issues. My sister has been diagnosed with early dementia (she is only 74), made worse by incurable lung disease which causes low oxygen levels, which cause more confusion. Fortunately, encouraged by hospital, all the basics are in place: power of attorney, treatment wishes etc. my heart goes out to you. gary

    I spent years teaching English as a foreign language students to use as many adjectives and adverbs as possible in order to show off their vocabulary, after first explaining what they were! If I was lucky they would manage a couple. It’s interesting that in the article there is a suggestion to reduce the quantity to the essential. At first I was nonplussed but @Libby Drew is spot on. I’ve read quite a few stories here, and elsewhere, and there is definitely an “Over use of Adjectives and Adverbs Syndrome” in some of them… and, sadly, in the current story that I’m attempting to wrap up. The word count is going down, for the better, I hope 🤞

    I enjoyed reading Mam’s letter in a Cork accent to myself. Had a colleague once with the thickest Cork accent. Like a foreign language and I’m half Irish…. Great chp. 😃

    Good news! That must have been a bit scary. My big sister had to be “v brave” for a barium-based test on Thursday. All really weird. Her terrible hip pain is actually linked to her chronic lung disease. Slowly the pieces are coming together to make sense of all her symptoms. Sadly, incurable.
