First up, you have beautiful writing skills to be proud of. Secondly, the intensity of feelings, often contradictory, that you fit into three short lines is wonderful. I’m in awe.
At UK grammar school, poetry was a nightmare with weekly tests on memorising verses, rather than trying to enter into the poet’s world. And then in Latin, one year, we hit Ovid and a two-liner that I more or less remember 50 years on:
I love you and I hate you. How is this possible?
I don’t know but it’s tearing me apart inside.
