Great stuff as TPOA gets into its stride. So much is crammed into 4-5,000 words that I find myself having to reread the previous chp to get prepared. Lovely touch about dear Winkler, that for me was the highlight… thank you Mark

A really, really, great chp from Mark. Just the tonic for a Thursday evening tiredness, and for those, unlike some (eg @Canuk !!) who have to work on Fridays! Im really enjoying the double perspective as it does help make the dose of JJ somewhat more bearable. Thank you Mark

It would be the norm for middle of the road Anglicans (Episcopalians, as well in US?) but obviously not for the Evangelical/ hard line Protestant wing. Having lived in an Anglican vicarage in my last year in university, I think Robert’s portraits are spot on.. ( no surprise, of course with him!) I am thoroughly enjoying catching up with this story. A great weekend read.

I feel like an addict, glowing with the pleasure of the latest “fix” but fearful about possible delays in my supply line! many thanks, Mark. Good luck with the grading. I can remember being interrogated by my sister on behalf of my mother….. 😱in the middle of a lunch party for 14 and I had dropped a huge dish of mashed potatoes on the floor and screamed for my sister to help. As we secretly scooped up what could be saved, she began the questioning…. 🤨 -

He is a master at this. It comes across in all of @Robert Hugill’s stories. That and the so-British art of self-deprecation which he does so, so well. It makes me feel as if I’m back home in uk.
