Past Shapes the Future: Pt 2
Clancy59 commented on R. Eric's story chapter in Past Shapes the Future: Pt 2
Eric, you obviously had a lot on your mind. You needed to talk and needed someone to listen. You know your readers love you and will support you when you need the love. Even if it’s in the form of an ear. We know you’ve been through some horrible times. Everyone has to process issues in their own way. The way you dealt with the last few years is different than the way someone else would . Neither is wrong. Hopefully, this has helped calm things down for you, even if you didn’t realize that’s what you were doing. I’m sorry if I’m rambling. I’m very tired right now, working on getting ready for a bridal shower for our niece tomorrow, my husband’s 80th birthday today, our car blowing a tire on the freeway two days ago and a couple of other things. I hope what I said made some sense and I am not hurting your feelings. -
Boy, you are a font of information! I always wondered what they did with the bones, because I knew those wouldn’t be burned to ash. However, to learn that they plowed the ground bone into their gardens?! It may make sense biologically, but I have to say it gives me a serious case of the creeps. Germany is one of the countries I would like, to visit as my family came from there over 150 years ago, but, now I don’t know that I would want to eat anything there!

In all fairness, both chimes usually stop after about a minute.

I didn’t say you were mean. I put the shocked, open-mouth smiley in the comment.

Chapter 10 - Falling into place
Clancy59 commented on Mrsgnomie's story chapter in Chapter 10 - Falling into place
Maybe I was romanticizing the power of a new hair cut but it felt like a weight had been lifted. I left her shop feeling like a new man, one who could face whatever was thrown my way. Just like I said in the last chapter. Nash needed to feel like he had some control over his own life and the things that were happening in it. -
Chapter 9 - Taking a step back
Clancy59 commented on Mrsgnomie's story chapter in Chapter 9 - Taking a step back
I know. I thought the same thing. However, it’s actually a very common response to a major blow-up in a person’s life, especially a break-up. I know when I broke off my engagement to my ex-fiancé, I unexpectedly got my hair cut from midway down my back, where I normally wore it, to just under my ears. We’re talking over 8” off! My mom’s eyes almost popped out of her head when she saw me. It wasn’t that it didn’t look good ( it did), it just wasn’t anything I had discussed doing. It was totally spontaneous. I wore it like that for several years. It’s now long again. Nash’s will grow back quickly. He just had to take some kind of action. He had to do something to establish control in his life when he felt like everything was careening wildly out of control. It will definitely settle his nerves. -
Chapter 2: Luis executes his revenge. What are the outcomes?
Clancy59 commented on vanalas's story chapter in Chapter 2: Luis executes his revenge. What are the outcomes?
I am having to reread because I can’t remember what happened in this story. I am finding myself not liking Luis very much. He seems very self-centered and egotistical to me. Hopefully things will change. By the way, when you brought Granny in to Luis, I had to cringe. You explained that there was a whole crew of designers making certain that Luis presented the proper image. The Royal Family should not have pinched pennies when it comes to Granny. Black shoes with a white gown?! NO! NO! NO! Silver or gold, yes. But not black. Even a light blue would have been better. Black is too harsh against the white. Sorry about being so nasty about it, but...ew! -
This is marked as ‘Complete?’ Say it isn’t so! This is the start of a great story, worthy of the Pern series. Please keep it going.

Meeting the leader and confronting the PA.
Clancy59 commented on Caz Pedroso's story chapter in Meeting the leader and confronting the PA.
While I agree Cravin (what a perfect name!) deserves to be punished, it just seems to me that exile from the coven is a bit extreme. He was as much a victim of the bullying as the others. However, Grey is entitled to seek another coven for him. He is the Alpha. I just think Cravin shouldn’t be summarily expelled. -
Freshman Year, Fall Semester
Clancy59 commented on FlyOnTheWall's story chapter in Freshman Year, Fall Semester
😆 I had to laugh when I read her name. I have a friend whose middle name really is Alatha! Close, I know. But, still... -
I know I’m reading this a year after you wrote this, but I CALLED IT, I knew Zampa would protect her humans! I just didn’t expect it to be Harris she would need to be protecting them against!
-
Zampa loves Paul and tolerates Corbin. I can see Stefano coming to attack them and Zampa attacking him because he is threatening her humans! He won’t know what hit him!
-
I just read both of these snippets. Please! Make them into full stories! I love your stories and these have a lot of promise. My imagination is spinning with the possible directions of the storylines. 🐉🐾
-
Yes, mean! Whadda mean, no cliffies? The whole story wound up being a cliffie! 😡
-
What an imaginative story! And now you’re going to make us wait? You’re mean! Seriously, this was a wonderful introduction to a larger story (we hope) and I’m sure we are all looking forward to reading further with great anticipation.

Ooh! Clever idea.

Hey, it’s fun to try something new every now and then. This looks interesting!

But, you misunderstand me. I’m not anti-religion. Religion has its place in society, but too many people have turned it into an evil, greedy institution that sets itself above everyone and everything in the name of God. Those are the ones that we have to be guarded against.

Wish we could see the boys’ faces when Maggie gives them this bit of news! 😆👶🏻👶🏻

Of course Jihan is nervous. Look at all the obstacles they’ve had to overcome. He doesn’t trust that the path is clear yet. That may actually be helpful with the Empress’s shenanigans coming.

I’ve been looking forward to the new Barnstable story since you announced its coming. It sounds like another great story. As far as getting Noah’s ‘tone’ in your writing, I think you are spot-on. I don’t know if you’ve ever had any contact with autistic kids, but I was a teacher for over 30 years dealing with students from Pre-K through high school and with every ability from high on the Bell curve to very low to the point of being non-verbal. I could actually picture several of my autistic HS students as I read Noah’s words. I’m not surprised. You have an excellent storytelling style. I know whereof I speak, too. I had such a wide range of students because I am a professional Librarian and spent all those years in the public schools. I know good writing when I see it. Thank you for the new story. I am happily looking forward to reading it. I’ll just have to reread Charlie’s story so I can remember some of these things Noah referred to!

I woke up this morning thinking, “Oh, good! It’s Friday! Time for another chapter from Carlos!” I’m sorry to see this story end, but it ended in a good place. I can now look forward to your next installment in the lives of The Squad and their families. Maybe Brad and Christina’s wedding? That would be nice, too. 😊 Have a great weekend. Enjoy the spring that is finally coming out!

Huck was probably brought up to believe in the sanctity of the church and therefore it’s representatives, the pastors/priests. Usually, these people present themselves as they are—flawed humans trying to understand a higher calling and sharing that with others. On the other hand, unfortunately, there are those who think that just because they are part of the church’s hierarchy, they get to decide what is right and wrong for everyone. If they don’t like something, it’s wrong and you are a sinner. It’s their way of maintaining control. Those are the dangerous ones. The people who follow them blindly are also a danger because they could do whatever they are told ‘in the name of Jesus!’ As far as these churches are concerned, people like Huck are the dangerous ones because they think for themselves and could discover how wrong and dangerous that ‘church’ actually is. Huck is beginning to realize this, although he doesn’t know it. He and Rogers are coming to a crossroad where they will be parting ways and Rogers knows this. He has to fight to keep him under his thumb. Harlan has just made that 10 times harder.
