Maddie is worried about being seen as a freak.I think Jonas initial reaction would be typical of most of the public.Trying to tell any authorities about this would probably have Maddie's ability classified until they can find a way to use it as a weapon against our enemies. Maddie's Dad being President could have helped with that I guess.
