Oh, the difficulty of admitting you love someone...

You have portrayed the brutality and herd mentality of school so well. It’s no consolation at the time when adults tell you things will get better, but of course, they do, once you are in a more civilised environment.

Really interesting premise for a short story. Teddy's memories of Rose's life was beautifully handled and even after I had finished reading this it left me thinking about the possibility of reincarnation for a long while.

Another cliffhanger ending! I really liked the way this chapter progressed Gus and Rick's relationship. First, the rescue and all of it's drama, then the journey to the hospital, giving them time to find out a bit more about their history. The tedious wait at the hospital, watching the game on TV. And then, as they both became more engrossed, being called in. Hopefully, Gus's arm has suffered no damage.

Very frustrating, but people often are. My dad used to work in a DIY shop which closed at 5.30 on a Saturday. You could almost guarantee that in the last ten minutes there would be a sudden rush of customers and at least one of them wanted a load of timber or sheeting cut.

I think a lot of the readers try to be kind. Also, I guess if there's something about your writing style they find hard to connect with, or if it doesn't flow, they just stop reading rather than commenting on it. I have actually had some constructive criticism in my comments (people picking up on a time-related error I hadn't spotted) which was very useful. I cross-posted my Dragonriders fanfic on 2 other sites (which are dedicated to fan fiction) and didn't get anywhere near the number of views or comments as here on GA.

I can relate to this. Back in the days when I used to work in projection, we had to be self-motivated to a certain extent. You knew that films needed to be checked and made up before they were due to play, along with all the other daily tasks of keeping eight screens running, but no one was standing over you and forcing you to do it. Yet when some people were on duty, they'd happily ignore a print sitting in the film dump for days then if no one else did, would do it at the last minute. Most times, someone else did make it up. It's great to get feedback. I have to admit, whenever I post a new chapter or short story I can’t wait to read all the comments. It really does make all the writing time feel worthwhile, not necessarily because everyone likes it, but because they are at least reading and thus sharing in your created world.

Sounds like a good system. A structure, but with sufficient flexibility for when the characters take you somewhere you didn't think you'd end up.

Adoption isn’t something most people have to think about. This story opened my eyes to some issues I’d never even considered in a humorous and engaging way. There's an awful lot packed into this short story and it’s definitely worth a read.

An interesting and thought provoking story.

Now that D'gar isn’t just a wing rider and has a position of importance at Benden, I’m sure he'll be involved with any meetings (or social occasions) attended by various Craftmasters, Lord Holders and the like.

I have a few planned. It's getting round to writing them all that takes the time, though!

Another beautifully written chapter. The tranquillity of the afternoon lazing around, the humour after the meal and then a well-handled sexual initiation scene. Yes, there is an age difference (and remembering that back in the sixties and seventies there was far less social stigma regarding this) but there is no question that all concerned are consenting and happy with what they are doing.

After reading the previous chapter I was thinking along the same lines as Fran, but I’m sure it’s not going to be that simple!

There's a lot of emotion in this story and the sense that the past - and its hurts - are still very fresh in Addison's mind. I enjoyed the ending - there was a feeling that life could now begin to move on for both Tom and Addison.
