I thought Matt's excuse for running away from Seamus was to spend time with his dad. Sounds like he is spending time pretending he is a kid. If he would counter his internal arguments with rational thinking, instead of feeding his pity party, he might actually get somewhere. I've said I love you before and those relationships ended. Did you spend a year getting to know the guy, months living with him, and have him declare his love first, previously? Would he be with me if it weren't for Aidan? He pursued you for a half a year before your relationship became romantic. Also, you do have Aidan, and will for the next 17 years. How exactly would you test this hypothesis in any relationship you have from here on out? I feel sorry for Aidan, because he is the one suffering due to Matt's insecurities.

In all the timelines, Davey's mom has been selfish and self-absorbed. She seems more vindictive and unhinged in this one. She was somewhat of a martyr in the other ones (where she was wronged by David Sr.), and she was killed before she could revert to full martyrdom. I agree that someone from the government needs to have a talk with her, but with her current mindset, jail would push her past the point of reason for ever.

I'm hoping Brian will come around. I am also looking forward to Davey's old friends mingling with his new friends. As for Mr. Mulkey, I'm reminded of the phrase "Pride goeth before the fall". His conceit and self-importance will come back to bite him in the ass, it usually does.

Even though Rick may not have a business tying him to the town (soon), he still has a home, friends, and history. I don't know if I see him following Gus around the world on the concert circuit. I could see Gus finally firing Zoltan because of his meddling and threats, but I don't see him settling down and retiring. I can't wait to find out how these two will get their HEA. They will get their HEA, won't they???? Please?

I don’t feel like I’ve earned the title.” Yes! This is what I've been talking about. Matt thinks of himself as a brother who is a full-time babysitter. He thinks of himself as a "typical college kid" (even though less than half the people going to college meet this traditional definition). How long will Seamus put up with just being the hot boyfriend with no input into the relationship. Unless Matt grows the hell up, they are all going to lose out on a great life together (with poor little fatherless Aidan being the biggest loser).

I have been binge reading up to the last chapter, but am now caught up and a victim of cliffhangers! I agree that mom is way more concerned about being right than trying to save people's lives. I called her selfish in a prior comment and that is playing out even more, now. China involving themselves in the USSR and world politics outside Asia this early is very scary. They barely won WWIII in the last timeline, I don't think they can beat both together.

I'm not as surprised at his mom's behavior as some of the other readers. She has always been narrow minded and somewhat selfish. She only ever acted until she had to, sticking her head in the sand (just like her mother) until she had no other choice. I don't doubt she loves her children, but she only likes them if they are doing what she wants.

Just when I was liking the man I hated, he gets shot! I hope his message got through to most of the crowd, as well as the tv audience.

I'm so proud of Davey's dad. I wonder how many changes will occur due to Ms. Flores being removed from social services almost 2 years earlier. How much damage was prevented?

I would imagine his dad has conflicting emotions about this, considering his thoughts of molesting Jenny. Thank goodness Davey put a stop to that before it started. David Sr. really is a different person in this do over, thanks to Davey.

Hopefully some of the 5 billion can be spent on outreach and information. Too many people get all their information and opinions about sexuality from their church and t.v. Neither are reliable sources.

I can't wait to find out how Davey explains this away. At least they all know he works with the military already. Living through 2020, we've all heard the debates over how the covid pandemic should have been handled. Some wanted a total shutdown and forced quarantine (except for absolutely essential workers to provide food, utilities, and medical care). Would that have worked? Maybe, but almost no one was willing to take that drastic a step in the U.S. or Europe, let alone third world countries. I can't imagine that the President's address will go over well. This was only 40 years since internment camps, there would be lots of people still alive that remember them. Unfortunately, people have a bad habit of ignoring abusive behavior unless it happens to themselves or other people "like them".

This chapter was like an interlude. Dare I say, even sweet. I liked it, but now we need to get back to the intrigue!

I agree with the Dr. that depending on the original timeline to remain the same (Brian hooking up with the witch at 16) may not work out. Originally Brandon fooled around with Davey before he left for Eureka. Maybe without Davey there, he fools around with Trevor and Brian. Brian was never hesitant about coming out, what if he falls for another boy before he turns 16? As for the bully, sometimes letting them leave an altercation with a little self-respect, as the wrestling match did, keeps them from overreacting in the future. I think their second battle ended well. I have a feeling having Mr. Crutchley on his side will be important in the future.

Hopefully Bitner will dig his own grave, pompous fools with Napoleon complexes usually do. Even if he does find a way to make a life with Brian (and I hope he does), Davey will make lifetime friends here in Eureka, too.

Was that the original time line though?" Cap Weinberger asked and my head started to hurt. That line blew my mind! What if "the original timeline" was not. What if 9/11 was caused by a time traveller coming back from a future where Islamic extremists had lost a war. I agree with Davey, my head hurts. I still don't understand how Shrevardnadze can be an issue in this timeline (died in 1988 in the previous timeline, so couldn't fund the research or come back). In this timeline, Chinese stole the technology and sent someone back. Help?

I think his dad is the kind of person who is mostly good at heart but is flawed and has a short temper. He reacts badly and then regrets it after, and keeps repeating this behavior. Davey has confronted him and forced him to think before he acts. Dad also respects authority, now Davey is a person of authority. I don't think he ever respected Davey in either timeline before.

I'm hoping Bush #1 isn't behind this. He didn't really like Davey much in Do Over, he only changed his attitude after Davey had won the war. I may be a liberal, but I don't want to see Dukakis win the election.

I pretty much hated Davey's dad in the first story, so I'm surprised that he's not as detestable so far. Maybe this stronger, wiser Davey really can change their family dynamics this time around.

I was thinking about the first chapter at work today and one thing I am confused about is how Shevardnadze will be coming to this timeline. The timeline that this Davey came from was the one that had the Soviets losing the 1988 war and Shevardnadze and his father were executed. Also the mad scientist was killed. The original (our) timeline ceased to exist. So he couldn't have funded and participated in the experiment to come back to 1983.

I just finished the first Do Over and found it suspenseful and thought provoking. This is a good start. I can't wait to find out what happened to cause Davey to do this again. His character sounds so world weary.

This is an exciting, well written adventure. The characters are complex and well developed. The story is suspenseful and thought provoking.
