As can be seen with the lingering mixed reactions to the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, since some southerners are still hoping, and even attempting, to get that overturned, how can the LGBT community expect any better? You may be able to pass laws that would bring these southerners into the current century, yet many will still continue to kick, scream and try to find a way around it.

Thanks for the feedback, Terry. Yes, we've been away from Kieren and his protectors for awhile, but with multiple groups to keep track of it was bound to happen. However, it is necessary to set up what else is going on and then tie them all together, so we can see how various events affect each of these groups. You will see each incident from multiple perspectives and learn how each occurrence impacts the overall outcome. We will be returning to Kieren and the others shortly and discover what they've been up to. I'm glad you are enjoying this story.

Yes, global warming is to some extent a natural occurrence and we know it is caused by a build-up of CO2 in the atmosphere. Even if it is a natural occurring event, the fact that humans are adding an increased amount of CO2 is just speeding up and aggravating an already tenable situation and making things worse. Why is that so hard to understand and accept? Are you willing to risk the future of the planet by playing ostrich and burying your head in the sand?

Let me just state a couple of things in response to Zombie. First, how long were explorers wandering through the jungles of South American and Africa, but yet throughout the 20th century aboriginal tribes were being discovered that had no previous exposure to civilization. How long have we been exploring the oceans, yet animal species of all types are still being discovered. Since the galaxy is so large and the universe infinite, are you telling me that you can't foresee how we might have missed discovering another intelligent species somewhere in the vast unknown?

Personally, I believe it's the height of human arrogance to believe that Earth is the only planet the contains intelligent life. Of course, if we are, that would make us the most intelligent species in the Universe, so why wouldn't they want to cling to that idea? It's merely an extension of the same arrogance that leads some to believe that their race, gender, religion or whatever else is superior to all others. I think they have taken Shakespeare's quote too literally. Hamlet: Act 2, Scene 2: "What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty! In form and moving how express and admirable! In action how like an angel! In apprehension how like a god! The beauty of the world! The paragon of animals!"

Hi, Michael. Welcome to GA. We have a very welcoming and friendly community here, which you should enjoy. However, this post should go into the 'New Member Welcome-Introduce Yourself' section.

It will be interesting to see what else they might be able to discover about it. Since it's sun is 1.5 billion years older than our sun, if the planet is inhabitable, is it far more developed than our own or did it miss the ingredient that sparks life? I can't wait to see what they learn.

I know of a couple of authors who have done this. What happened is that they didn't think the story through before they started writing. Since they didn't have an outline or a more than a vague idea of where the story was going, plus the fact that they were posting it as they wrote it, they painted themselves into a corner. Things that they had written in earlier chapters eventually prevented them from taking the story where they now wanted it to go. Since they couldn't figure a way around the problem, they just stopped writing the story. I think this points out two different approaches, one of which you should use before writing. Either have a detailed outline of what you plan to do in the story or write most or all of it first, before posting. I actually do a combination of both, but I primarily like to write all or most of the story first before posting, because there have been many times when I have gone back and made changes to earlier chapters (some minor and other times major changes) to get it to fit in with an idea that came to me later.

There was a special on the National Geographic channel last night and I'm sure there will be more over the next 16 months, as new pictures are sent back. They were also talking about similar sized dwarf planets they've seen beyond Pluto and expect to be studying them, along with many comets and asteroids in the Kuiper Belt. It should be a fun, interesting and informative time.

After Beraut finished preparing the dwarf troops, Commander Elgin ordered those under his command to begin the march forward.
