    I hope so as well, but recent headlines are what put me in such a dark frame of mind, with preachers claiming all gays and lesbians should be locked up behind electrified fences and another saying they should all be killed.

    Germany and Spain seem to be getting stronger, so everyone else will have to watch out. You're correct about the Irish and I think their fans knew it too, because they seemed unfazed by the defeat and continued to have a good time.

    Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated incident. Even back in high school, I thought that what they were requiring for the landings went counter to what we'd learned in other sports. Would you go for a rebound in basketball or make a leaping catch in baseball or football and then come down with your legs stiff? Not unless you wanted to end up in a cast. Look at how many of those athletes ended up with permanent problems in later life because of that. I remember playing football, getting my bell rung (which today might be classified as a mild concussion) and told to shake it off. We were coached to play through pain and keep fighting, but I think we're learning today that wasn't the best advice. I think a lot of tried and true sport practices from the past need to be re-analyzed and adjustments made to the way things are done, otherwise we are going to put future generations at risk.

    No matter whether I'm reading or writing, I have something else going on in the background - call it a throwback to my high school - college years. Sometimes it's music, which can range from classical, pop or rock-n-roll, or it can be a sporting event, which I only pay close attention to when the crowd and the anouncers get excited. It's seldom that I do anything in complete silence.

    Portugal 3 - Denmark 2. I thought it was an exciting match. Germany 2 - Netherlands 0 Germany played better in this match, but at times the Dutch looked as if they were sleepwalking.

    Yes, the Greek team played like their bodies were on the field and the minds were at home worrying about the economic situation. I was suprised the Poles managed a draw with Russia. Can't wait to see the Germany - Portugal match. Germany will have to play better than their last game if they hope to win though. Wait, I just checked. It's Germany - Netherlands and Denmark - Portugal.

    Steve, it was only a few years ago when the last of the castraltos died, I think he was in his 90s, but Andrew certainly sounds in that range. You are correct though. Some of it did sound as if it were a falsetto.

    The French were much more aggressive and could have easily won. I think the English were lucky to get out of the game with a draw. I thought the Ukranians were much more aggressive against the Swedes. That game really surprised me.

    This seems like the perfect place to discuss this, but for those who watched, what did you think? I have really enjoyed it everytime Neil Patrick Harris hosts, but there was some great talent showcased. Any thoughts?

    When you refer to bikers, are you talking about bicycles or motorcycles? Both sets of riders are often referred to as bikers.

    Is Portugal that good or isn't Germany as dominant as in the past. I thought Germany looked lethargic. The Dutch didn't seem to have any luck in their match either, with a shot hitting the upright and others barely missing.

    If you love a good wedding, then you will be in for a treat before this book ends. Yes, it's good to see Graham being happy. Even though he hasn't suffered as many times as Kevin, it's good that he is moving on.

    To say the least, I was shocked when he began to sing, since I wasn't expecting him to belt out in that range. Fortunately, the judges weren't crass and didn't ask him if his briefs were too tight, but I wonder if he'd be interested in doing opera, seeing he'd have to take female roles.
