Jesse reminds me of a rescued dog. If you speak to loudly, if you walk towards him to quickly, or if you start to raise a hand...he will step back and lay down to protect himself or more likely in Jesse's case run. Hank knows this and so far, has avoided those types of actions. Hopefully Jesse will realize Hank is someone he can trust. I still just want to grab Jesse and hold him, telling him things are going to be okay.

I am hooked on this story already. I think Lee can be saved if he decides he is worthy of living a better life. I am speculating that he had a terrible time of it growing up. Maybe he was in the foster system, or he was a totally neglected kid. I know we will get his background eventually from you. I am rooting for Lee to see his potential and turn his life around. Thank you for another great story and characters.

This was a beautiful chapter. I really grew to like Shawn at dinner. Rayne and Elias are great together. Most importantly is that you have finally convinced me that Harlan is a decent guy. Thank you again for a great story!

I must agree with Rickproehl that Harlan redeemed himself by taking Pastor Rodgers down. Helping Rayne and Huck was a totally selfless thing for Harlan to do. I hope Harlan finds some happiness for himself.

Good story so far and the new characters are interesting. I am happy to see several comments concerning Harlan. I was giving up hope on him until he showed concern on Huck and the Pastor. Still hoping for more making him a likable guy.

Great chapter and the discussion it created was incredibly important. So many younger people do not any idea how prevalent conversion therapy was in the 60's and 70's. I have known many guys who went through it. Thank you for bringing it up here.

Getting to the end and absolutely loving the story. Not complaining but it takes nearly as long to read comments as the chapters. The comments make the reading experience allot more fun.
