Very nice story, and the characters were really interesting, the writing was good, but the story seemed a little choppy in a couple of places though. I am really impressed with how many of these stories in the secret authors contest had a sci-fi bent. Really liked how the different parts of Bryce's life seemed to interconnect with each other; of course, part of that was because of his age and the fact that impacted some of his actions simply because it limited some of what he might have done otherwise. Did not really understand why the parents concealed his age when he started university, was there a reason for that? Would really enjoy having this one continued as well.

Honestly, a large percentage of the kids that attend the Catholic schools in my area are not Catholic but attend as they tend to be academically rigorous. That said, they tend to be rather strict about certain issues as you would expect, although a few are quite liberal in areas that would surprise you. Sounds like the musical is coming along well, maybe better than expected, but of course, it isn't sports so doesn't get the financial support that the sports programs would, even if they had the extra money. So, we know that Tim's father is an ass, but how big of one is the real question.

Well, does Grandma run the corporation? Is she the head? I need more details on this. This family does seem to care about their workers; but that only makes good business sense. Sad that too few corporations on Earth at this time do the same thing. I guess maybe Grandma and the rest of the family are starting to realize that Marc truly has different plans for his future. While he may work hand in hand with the corporation, he has no desire to run it. That doesn't mean that he couldn't if some tragedy occurred but it just isn't what he wants for himself.

Loved this, a western with a sci-fi twist. This is one that I would love to see a continuation of the story. Interesting characters and the situation was truly unique.

There seems to be some essence of a Mafia like parallel to Dracul. Thoroughly enjoyed this chapter and can't wait for the Prince's court. Some changes are coming, and I do think that when it comes out that there is a new Baron of Pittsburg, there will be even more surprises. Seems to me that Pittsburg is a bit large for a mere Baron.

Oh, I found a couple of new ones that need to be checked out...

My hope is that both of these boys, and yes, they are boys, will take this experience and learn from it and treasure it for how special it was. They may well be lifelong friends; but in the end they were never going to be more than that. They are both getting ready for the next steps in their lives, let's hope they do stay friends and are there for each other when they can and need to be.

Child Protective Services Helps, Sort Of
centexhairysub commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in Child Protective Services Helps, Sort Of
Well, being the child's uncle should mean something; but in my experience, CPS or whatever they are called in the individual state this is taking place in; rarely does what is best for the child. They either do what is expedient and cheap; or they do what is the so-called moral decision should be, and it is actually rarely based on moral grounds or reasoning. This is a story that probably needs to be told more often and by more people, but the characters and writing in this one are gripping.- 41 comments

This was a really enjoyable story in a genre that I truly enjoy and find that many don't try enough to develop. The characters were truly interesting and well developed. The story flowed really well, and the writing was first rate. This might well be my wish for the world, that something like this was truly possible. That said, I think any little green men that came near Earth would spend about two hours viewing the mess we have made and run for their lives. Agree with @Bill W that this more than some of the others almost demands a follow up.

Megan and Doc seem to be moving along rather quickly. Adam and Kai at least got to know each other through their letters first to some degree. Love that Adam seems to be loosening up some, but I still think he will be a hard nut to crack when it comes to sorting out the not only the physical side of a relationship with Kai but the logistics of one as well. Although Megan and Doc were like a summer storm, sudden and violent; Adam and Kai are more like a spring shower, something truly nourishing.

Ercole sounds like a delicious friend with benefit kind of person. So much energy and knows all the right people and places. Maybe bring Gran with them to visit Milan. LOL. I love these little slices of daily life; that is what really makes an interesting story and relationship to me. Those mundane moments that really are more profound than most realize, but they happen so quietly that you some miss them all together.

Well, the musical sounds like it may well turn out to be something more than interesting. Tim was not prepared to have to play one of the leads, but it might be interesting to see how he does. When he sings to Samantha, we all know it will really be for Guy. Is Ben trying too hard? Is Samantha really interested? Is Cameron gay and Samantha is his cover or BFF? Just so many questions...

Addington is up to something; the last time Granger could pulled into something for the political office, he spent a cold winter in Russia. What is going on in the Sahara that could possible warrant being sent there. LOL. Granger is without a ship, at least for the moment, but he always seems so melancholy without one. Perhaps the good Signora will help him stay even keel. I think the fact that William at least appears to like the new woman in Granger's life is an important thing. He is getting to the age and seems to be smart enough to cause real issues if he did not. While Daventry is probably right, never a good thing to cause unwarranted friction with the Prime Minister, the wheel of politics moves at it's own speed, and that is rarely fast. Can't wait to see what they have in store for George next.

Secret Author Contest-Stories and More Stories!
centexhairysub commented on Cia's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Some truly outstanding stories, I have given up trying to guess the authors. Going to wait until I read them all to do any reviews, but I am leaving recommendations. -
A sadness so polite and almost sedate like; but full of bitterness and regret. Beautifully written, but just so sad that it overshadows all other thoughts on the work.

So Marc had a dread that told him what his future mate would be like? Taller than him is one thing, and any others? These two are getting along nicely, even if Marc doesn't view them as happily ever after, I wonder if Janek does? Should you be using the L word if you know this isn't your fated mate? I mean I guess love comes in different forms, but with Janek's past, seems sort of cavalier.

Do I Really Need This Now?
centexhairysub commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in Do I Really Need This Now?
I truly do not understand some people. It is like they are just stupid or something, why do that to a child. I will almost bet they are religious nutjobs in some way. Brendan is trying to do the right thing, let's hope it doesn't come back to bite him...- 26 comments

Well, Jason went from not being sure what he wanted to having two guys that both want him. He has three weeks to decide what to do about it. This was hilarious, smart, sexy, funny; well it would make the perfect boyfriend if it was a person.

Writing your thought down can be very therapeutic on several levels. I am glad that Keith is doing so and Thomas should as well, although, I do think that Keith might do with some actual counseling. I do agree that going back you rarely find the place you feel you left, or the feel of how it was has changed so much. Find these two infinitely interesting and will be sad as they ride off into the sunset, together we hope. But we can enjoy all that we have left.

I am really proud of Adam, he handled much of this better that I would have thought. He and Kai are just too cute together, and Adam does get excited about the strangest things. LOL. Kai bought the grill and is a good bar b que chef, contrary to their popular belief, a lot of he men are not. Doc is open about his injuries, of course, he has had a long time to come to terms with them. Glad he felt comfortable enough with this group to show them. Love skinny dipping, of course, I grew up in the country and it was something you just did. This group seems like they meshed well, I was worried about how well Adam would handle some of Doc's behavior but did quite well.

Oh What a Night, to paraphrase, this chapter was a real delight. Guy and Tim have done something that they think will be really special, let's all bet that they are right. Ben may not be totally straight, but I don't think he thinks of Tim that way at all, @VBlew, or course, I could be wrong, woulld not be the first time. I thought this musical sounded like a disaster, but can't wait to see what the boys did.

WOW, so I read this twice and still not sure that another reading won't be necessary. This was really well written and the fact it is confusing is a testament to how well written it is. Interesting characters and the idea behind this story is more than just a little interesting as well. I would love to know how the author came up with this idea.

I really do love this genre, wish more would attempt it but know it isn't for everyone. A good story with a western setting is hard to come by, but when it hits, few things are better.

Healing And Bonding
centexhairysub commented on Ticklishboy30's story chapter in Healing And Bonding
Nice chapter, so much happiness and love and the willingness to share it. That and being able to forgive the past are two great things. -
Janek may never be fully over what happened in his past; but he can learn to deal with what happened and not let the past destroy his current and future happiness and relationships. Marc's friends do like Janek, I think sincerely, some of the issues is the sense of shame that Janek has from his past, but maybe he is starting to move past that. Marc handled the situation with Janek perfectly in the room. Glad they are taking the next step, but even prouder of how Marc handled Janek and his revelations about his past.
