  1. I think I agree with CarringtonRJ. I found the back and forth a little too tedious but I also suppose it was realistic....I am showing my age.
  2. Happy Birthday Iarwain ! Have a great day and a spectacular weekend!
  3. I like the dad sticking to his word, but every kid on Earth screws up from time to time and I'm sure dad in his time did too. Maybe he will remember that. I hope! On another note, I think this could go somewhere and become a full story. DDK
  4. I'm anxious to get back to Hawaii too!

    Chapter 4 Earth

I have no interest in publishing commercially. I worked for more than forty years and love being retired and having the time to do what I want when I want. But thanks for the kind thought. And thanks for reading and reviewing. DDK

    Chapter 6

I'm glad you focused on where they were in the process, rather than the 9/11 memorial service. JJ thinking of Rosa says a lot too. He knows he has to eat right and wanted someone he could depend on. Way to go JJ. Princess! I laughed all over again! Thanks! And, more please!
  7. I'm glad you are finding Abel III awesome! I tend to agree but I may be a bit biased! Thanks again for reading and reviewing. DDK
  8. There is plenty on site and a lot of fantasy fiction as well! Thanks again for reading and reviewing! DDK

  10. You must be reading my mind. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
  11. Thanks for the kind words. If anyone can figure out how to do telepathic sends across light years it will be Abel III and Dennis. Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

    Chapter 29

Thanks for gifting us with chapter 29. I took my time reading it as I savored each segment. Please do not make us wait so long for the next part of the saga! Thanks again! DDK
  13. Diane and Gary were a surprise, especially as their son just got off the phone with them before they arrived. More please!
  14. Interesting speculation on appearance of Brad's aging. I should think that the death of Robbie probably did age him a bit. If not in his actual facial appearance, then perhaps in the body language of how he carries himself. I suspect he is a bit more aloof and looks a bit more calculating, no longer presenting the picture of the young and rich playboy. Mannerism can make you look older too. Everyone seems to think that Alex and JJ will wind up in bed and while that may happen, I see JJ using Alex more as someone worthy to impress and thus help him focus. JJ is a snob and appreciates class which Alex has in spades. We all look for validation and JJ certainly hasn't gotten that from his father who barely follows his career.
  15. I too remember the soapbox and people did behave with contempt and became very inflammatory in their responses. So while I can see why the pendulum has swung so far in the other direction as to avoid all politics, I also think it more than a bit unrealistic to mandate a complete avoidance of the subject. As a further note, the site did lose some very good authors because they were made to feel unwelcome and that is beyond sad. Virulent attacks are not good anywhere and usually accomplish little. I don't advocate any return to the non-moderated soapbox but Adam raises some very valid points. As an aside, political jokes have their place but repeatedly demeaning public figures and vilifying them has not helped public discourse. In the process, the 'government' has become the source of all problems rather than a source for fixing problems beyond the scope of individuals or private companies. Finally, Zombie makes an interesting point as well. People who identify strongly with a political party are more apt to spout the party line or "spin" as it is called. Unfortunately, in the US, the two major political parties regard the other with so much contempt, that compromise has become a dirty word. As a result we have gridlock.

    Chapter 5

Dr. Love! It was nice of Darius to explain it all to Brad (and to me too). We got to see a little bit more of what makes JJ tick and of course it now appears Alex is his good luck charm. Interesting! More please!
  17. Across the galaxy would be more than 110 thousand light years. The human race is confined to the Orion Spur and that is more than 3500 light years wide and 10,000 light years long so even that would be monumentally unlikely. Space is really too big for it to be rationally comprehended. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
  18. Underway at last! More please!
  19. I don't think Abel III would put as much effort into another shower. Thanks again for reading and reviewing!
  20. Thanks! I hope I don't go to far overboard on the details. Thanks for reading and reviewing! DDK
  21. Chapter 21 Preparations With only three days until we were scheduled to depart Starview, we were busy getting supplies and cargo stored. Grandfather was in charge of lining up our cargo while the ship was being refitted and we would be carrying a full load as he had underbid the competition. Drew and Kade had interviewed and hired seven men to replace the twenty-five who had departed. With the addition of Dennis, our ship's complement would now total one hundred and ten, which H
  22. I find the developing telepathic powers the most intriguing!
  23. I wonder if our intrepid entrepreneur will figure a way to extract and recycle the plastics in the oceans' garbage patches?
  24. James wrote- It will be revealed the the Fukashima nuclear accident is actually much worse than everyone thinks. I think that is already happening. I read a scary story only yesterday talking about the lackadaisical response of the Japanese government and the power industry to an ongoing disaster where they seem to be moving some of the contaminated material around rather than actually coming up with ways to dispose of it somewhat safely and sanely. As far as your other predictions, I expect they will prove to be somewhat accurate. The potential for biological attacks by terrorists has never been greater and most countries are woefully under prepared and that includes the US. Geothermal power will be in the mix, but solar, wind and ocean waves will too. I disagree somewhat about immigration. I think security agencies of the US will look harder at who is applying to immigrate, but I think the demographics will favor a change to allow more immigration. The trust but verify concept will probably be implemented so there will be more detailed background checks.

    Chapter 21

An interesting chapter that ended on a somber and somewhat plaintive note. More please!
