I get the impression that many in the forum have stereotyped Alex and not in a very flattering way. I suspect that Mark may be contributing to that impression intentionally so that he can shatter it in some dramatic matter. I seem to remember a short time ago (story-wise) we were set-up to blame Matt for all kinds of shortcomings and he seems to have redeemed himself pretty well. While Alex is a foil and will probably never be a main character in CAP, I can see Mark bringing him back in the future, say ten years in CAP time. It is another thing he is wont to do. I am just enjoying the story as it progresses. My biggest concern is not JJ but Zach's ankle. My biggest regret is as I said in my review: They are in Hawaii and no mention of the beach anywhere.......

Playing on that ankle without any information that it was at least well taped made me cringe at the damage that run could do. The handcuff and broken key was too funny and so unlike Will. Cheap tawdry sex toys should now be permanently off his shopping list. JJ and Alex. Still don't know Mark is going with this, except the next date is to the BSO. My biggest regret is that Zach and Will are in Hawaii and not at the beach.....

Interesting point about the Ocean Currents and possibly interrelated effects of climate change, change in salinity and just cyclical changes. It does seem that everyone want to dumb complicated systems down to a single cause and effect when that is rarely the case.....

Thanks! Took the family and went to the local outback in Ellisville. It was good but not out of the ordinary good. It was close and they have enough variety to suit everyone in the family including my granddaughter in middle school.

Another thought provoking chapter about the interconnected results of complex world.

I read about this yesterday and I too couldn't believe they were not going to be charged with a hate crime. Matthew Shepard died October 12, 1998!

Thanks for the information and the points of view from all the commentators. The 21st Century does seem to have its own set of challenges with groups all over clamoring for self-rule including many in the Middle East, Spain and Aftica. The UN looks less and less like world body and there seems to be less and less trust in government as it is always portrayed as the problem rather than a means of working out a solution. The Social Compacts of the Enlightenment seem to be a relic of the past. The Brave New World is more disorder than order and with weapons of mass destruction and biological and chemical weapons proliferating, it looks like a scary time for mankind is dawning.

JJ may be burned from his infatuation with Alex, but then again maybe he will be just bruised a bit and grow up some as a result. I did like the musical selections. The theme from "A Summer Place" is really something only us really old guys can remember as being new. The film was released in 1959 and the the song became a hit in 1960, the year I became a teenager!

JJ really is crushing on Alex. Alex is enjoying his company and is taking it slow, which is a good thing for JJ. Brad and Sean. It does have a sense of being right...for both of them. I guess Mr. Arbour shall decide in due time. More Please!

Other ships have crew with well developed natural shields. The ship's group psychic shield has not been mentioned as being found or noted on any other space ship although if the crew contains several telepaths on board, it would probably manifest... Abel III does seem to be one of a kind so his "ice prince" phase probably did shape him to a degree. Remember their psychic gift doesn't usually manifest until after age 21 to about age 30.
