  1. To me the biggest news was that Devon apparently plans to take the move to Chicago along with the kids. That's the bottom line. Instead of dealing with that and contacting his attorney, Coop decides to assuage his feelings. While the scene with Chase was hot, and Chase played it just right, it still felt somewhat manipulative. The fearless foursome (five with Winston) scene was indicative of all their longstanding foibles. Coop may not understand it all, but perhaps even he is beginning to understand it is all getting a little stale. Coop having Kyle for his personal attorney is a problem. Kyle is not someone Coop can rationally deal with and he needs to have an attorney that can give impartial advice. The subplot with the review of the book by the U and Coop's complete caving sounds suspiciously like a priori censorship. Morals clause or not, consenting sex among adults is no longer illegal in this country.
  2. Well thought out venue for tying up some loose ends by going back to the seer. The scene back at Vik's lair was hot! Thanks for your story Renee!
  3. I was struck with the number of female authors who write boy on boy stories in this venue. Now there is the question of a straight narrator with straight sex. My answer of course, is that if it is well written, has good pacing, and adds some illumination to the human condition, whether straight or gay, young or old, black or white or asian, then of course I would read and enjoy it. A good story is a good story. We call history, history because it is our story. I like that GA has a collection of authors, with varying backgrounds from locales around the world. We are a human family. Whether gay, straight, bi or transgendered, we share some basic DNA, some soul and hopefully some joy. In the ocean of the universe, we are are on this one shiny little blue planet filled with life. We should all treasure it. And each other.
  4. Everyone has a past. Someone Scott's age is bound to have had other love interests in the past. Charlie had a girl friend for years! While your past may come back to bite you if you let it, most move on and let it go. Obviously, Scott got a painful reminder about his past and from the chapter description it bothered him. He has shown good sense in the past with Charlie and I have faith he can deal with it and Charlie like an adult. A well written chapter. Hospital surgery waiting rooms are in a different universe where time moves much slower and more ominously. No one who has been through the experience ever wants to sit through another episode as they are draining. Lucky for Charlie this one had a happy ending.
  5. He claimed he didn't make the name up, but he must of scoured the Western Australian geography for months to come up with a goat island! Of course they couldn't hide behind it and had to journey further upstream because no one could ever successfully hide behind a goat! (Why do I feel a head butt coming on?)

    Chapter 1

A quick release or a connection? f**k-buddies or jerkoff buddies? I have questions, but no answers and sometimes the questions are the answers....
  7. While I agree that the CAP series could be edited to make it more mainstream and thus marketable, I've enjoyed it just as it is. I first joined Mark's Yahoo group and came to GA from there. Seems like his readers are legion here. Many of the observations, comments and criticisms are funny, frivolous, whiny, and some are even petty while others are fawning, complimentary and complaining. Getting his insight and feedback to all of that demonstrates his intellect, patience and I dare say cunning. My gut feeling is that he has purposely set-up some controversial situations to see the response. But that is what good authors do, they suck in their readers and manipulate them. The most effective ones do it without the reader consciously being aware of it. In this venue, filled with writers, (who are all critics) being called out even gently is a given.
  8. Interesting video. I read a piece a few days ago which said that the most dangerous job was not being a policeman or fireman, but being a fisherman. I can believe it. Of course I have read Moby Dick as well as lots of the Hornblower series by Forester, but that was decades ago. I also saw the movie Master and Comander. I think CJ did a good job describing the river entry through the swells and breakers as well as the night navigation of the river. Like I said in my review of the chapter, I am sure I would have heaved, had I undergone such a journey.
  9. Good job describing them riding the swells and surf for the river entry and then the journey upriver to hide. Somehow I think I would have puked my guts out just hanging onto the lifeline harness getting into the river and been too sick to even think of further travel up it.
  10. Wow, I didn't think you guys were old enough to even know about Roy and Dale! They were part of my childhood growing up in the fabulous fifties! Well fabulous for a kid in the midwest living in a new suburban development filled with kids, little league and this new thing called television. If you watch it through and then go to the next Youtube video it shows them when they were young and vibrant, which is how I remember them... I've already P.M.'d Mark about his 'sabbatical' and also wished him the best and hope he gets time to get everything under control. GA will not be the same without an active CAP story in progress!
  11. I found this chapter riveting and read through in no time at all! Good job. More please!
  12. Spence calling upset with Coop over Kyle was total B.S. on his part. Coop talks about being on the same page with Devon regarding parenting and then he goes and lays down the law without talking to her. Instead of letting Mike eat with them, he should have thanked him for the groceries and sent him home. Trying to impress teens at their age with talk is a waste of hot air. Actions speak a lot louder. He may be an honorary 'uncle' but he can't be his daughter's boyfriend's father too! Going on the boat with Chase was another less than brilliant move. Throwing his daughter in the lake and the aftermath was the only redeeming thing to happen. Chase certainly know how to play Coop and isn't above taking advantage.
  13. OK Connor, it's a story, fiction, and believe it or not, some families really are slightly dysfunctional and not very "normal". By the way, you forgot to mention how disrepectful Will is to his mom. While I may not like everything I read about in the entire CAP series, it is by far the best at GA, so now that you got on your soapbox, give it a rest and go back to be being the laid back Canadian.

    Chapter 2

Good job, fast read and while not riveting, it was very interesting watching your main character processing his thoughts, feelings and emotions.
  15. I agree that Tony doesn't have big problems. He did get drunk and caved in to his lust for Will . Will took the opportunity without the maturity to realize there could/would be regrets in the morning. Tony did dump his guilt on Will which made Will feel inadequate and caused him to question whether he was ready to run with the big dawgs which maybe was a good thing. Will's refusal to discuss things with Tony later was another aspect of his lack of maturity or empathy. Tony did violate his own moral code and surely has regrets. Will has no regrets, except that he got stung. In my review of the chapter I noted that in view of Will's ongoing slutty behavior, he could turn into a real slut if he doesn't make a conscious decision not to. I also indicated this was not one of my favorite chapters. The reason is that each character failed to show any growth or increased self-awareness but seemed to plod on almost as expected. Of course life is like that, mostly plodding on. It will be interesting to see where Mark takes this next.

    Chapter 40

Not my favorite chapter. Tony failed to keep to his own moral code and then laid his guilt on Will. Will is a real piece of work and even he had some insight that just maybe he wasn't quite ready to play with the big boys. Of course Gathan and Kristin are devastated by the reality of their impending separation. Enough teenage angst, sex and repartee to move the story forward but it seemed a bit voyeuristic. Trying to look at the trajectory of this life story through the prism of Will's experience, it seems that unless he makes a conscious effort to keep it in his pants, he could actually become the slut that his slutty behavior indicates.
  17. Well written chapter. I flew through it as it was a very fast read. Cameron sounds like another complication, especially since Scott did not have a ready explanation. Rick Sr. is a big load of guilt. Charlie's dad is in a really scary place. The rest of the family is too. The doctor's prognosis is favorable, but we all know about medical complications, like clots, adverse reactions to anethesia, etc. etc. etc. If it was my mom, I'd be worried sick as well.

    Chapter 1

I just want an answer as to where they are going? Somewhere in the U.S.A. geographically, but will they make it a personal journey as well? So many possibilities. Also some interesting homophone spelling replacements: Strait for straight; site for sight; pleas for please.
  19. Interesting take. I did notice an extra "of" in the following sentence however: "Learning there were twelve Fairies he had gifts of made of the finest wood, silver, and rubies for them."
  20. Another interesting speculation. I'm not sure that George would like to be AKA the big bitch's brother but in order to have his name as joint owner of some of her business interests, it would be a cover. Making lots of money on drugs, it needs to be invested into something legit in order to finance Bridget's ongoing lifestyle.
  21. It's because Trevor is determined to come back to Florida and look for the wreckage of his mom's boat. They know he won't leave it alone.
  22. Chris James claims he can't type fast because of his hooves!??? Hasn't everyone heard of dragon naturally speaking voice recognition software? I am told that you train it and it can even be trained for people with high-pitched whinnies or low pitched moos or even baleful baas. Of course, I too would like to see faster posts! We know Sanchez wants Trev's head. I don't think I saw any hint of Mr. B being told to take out his boat so I think the elaborate watch on it may be some misdirection on the part of our devious author. The forum speculation on Trev's mom is also interesting but at this point fairly academic. I think the bigger shock will be when or if Trev finds out his dad is gay. That will truly be a hit on all his assumptions about dad. Further, with George under the watchful eye of Gonzo and sometimes Henry, will the planned drug plant on Lisa and Joel even work--I hope not! I'd like to see some of their evil plans start to backfire and blow back in their face. Sanchez is beyond evil too and it would be nice to see his empire crumble with him caught and brought to justice. Being a firm believer in what goes around comes around, I think payback is justly deserved.
  23. Yeah, I've seen them in Missouri too and no I don't think I'd ride in the vehicle with them dangling from the back bumper or whatever. Another recent trend I've seen, mostly on cars belonging to young guys with parking permits for the local community college are bumper stickers with the phrase: "GOT WOOD?" Like the truck balls, it almost looks like they are advertising...

    Chapter 12

Okay, so now you we went from an imaginative, quirky story into complete off the wall unbelievability, even for a made up universe. In other words, you lost me. For 10 chapters, Sar was a smart, with it guy who was just emotionally challenged when it came to understanding Glory. Now all of a sudden, he is so inept that he didn't have any control over Valentino or the rest of his household at all, especially after the last time Glory went missing? You've stretched my credulity and an interesting story became simply improbable fluff.
