    Chapter 1

Somehow I don't think Tiffany and Wade have heard the last from Jeanine. Interesting start to a new book in the CAP series. But honestly, paternity is revealed in the first chapter, so that makes me believe there are additional issues regarding paternity as yet unrevealed....

    Chapter 1

As someone who camped and canoed a lot as a teenager and much younger man, I can only say, you forgot to mention the insects, which are especially noisome at night. The part about them spending the night in an 'gator wallow was pretty scary though!
  3. Gathan catching Kristin in flagrante delicto thus ending their relationship was a slight surprise. I really expected her to catch Gathan again, but instead of with Will, with Zach and with the encounter having been set-up by Zach. Now I'm curious to see how the clan and crew respond to 9/11 and just who is directly effected...

    Chapter 46

Well I guess there is at least one very happy guy----Kristin's dad. Zach did some serious damage to his bad boy image. Gathan had a good-bye tryst with Kristin, but the story made no mention that he remembered to use protection.....
  5. Anne McCaffrey's stories about the dragonriders of Pern clearly described the sexual exploits of the riders, especially when their dragons were in heat. Her stories indicated that sometimes the sexcapades were with members of the same sex. She was an accomplished writer who mixed fantasy with science fiction. In the late 1960s she became the first woman to win a Hugo Award for a work of fiction and the first woman to win a Nebula Award. She was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2006 joining the likes of Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke etc. Anyone who enjoys some well written fantasy, would enjoy her work. RIP Anne!
  6. Read through this story over the past couple of days and thoroughly enjoyed it. I usually shy away from fan fiction as I've found it to be usually not up to par. This was an exception as it was true to the Pern universe in both obvious and subtle ways. Good job.
  7. Lisa had some doubts starting about Bridget but she still uses her guest house and lets the evil witch and her dirty cop friend in on everything. She even allows them to plant a suitcase in place of her own. Looks like they may not get out of town after all...
  8. "2. In a perfect world, I'd have separate alphabetical listings for Hosted Authors, Promising Authors, Authors, Poets, Validateds, and Newbies." Sounds like a plan to me, maybe Myr and the other powers that be will notice and consider....and not reject out of hand.

    Epilogue

Justice was served! Both in the story and as a story! Great job! I'm glad our victims took no real joy in seeing the defendant sentenced to 65 years. It was just, but is still heartbreaking. Some young people throw their lives away in a variety of ways, but this is one of the worst. Whether its a hate crime, drugs, or just sheer stupidity, too many of our youth fail to understand that life is a gift that they should try to do something with that has a lasting positive value.
  10. Welcome back! I liked the scene with Coop's son. I think Coop handled that particularly well. Kids often think their parents don't really want them when going through a divorce and sometimes they are right. Coop can't catch a break with Chase. Finding Morgan and then Chase having to go at the end of the chapter has surely left Coop feeling particularly vulnerable. Good job.
  11. The description of Caroline taking on her sister&brother-in-law as well as her father-in-law was vividly described and memorable. The ending with her mother-in-law coming down forcefully on her side was climactic and surely sealed the fate of George's oldest brother and his wife as being sent to the country estate by George's dad. It was a really good read, even down to George's reactions.

    Chapter 24

Concisely told tale of machinations at home in England. And new boys to break in too.

    Sister Sara

Glad to see this story back on track and hope we will see regular updates. Lots of good stuff. Danny is a boy genius in advanced mathematics and navigation and his genome twin is similarly talented.
  14. Starting re-reading this story when I saw a new chapter was up and noted a few things here in Chapter 4. I think you meant: communications instead of "commutations" especially instead of "epically" intact instead of "in tact."

    Chapter 6

Cat, cattin with cat. Not surprising. Nor unexpected. But problematic. Rover. Sar. Sound of fecal material hitting the fan.
  16. In response to a review on this chapter, CJ wrote: "There's more to learn about Bridget's operations... Trevor faces a very formidable foe, one he's not yet aware of." I suspect the above could mean anything, but if in addition to B'stoke out to kill him, his own emotional upheavals to include panic attacks and symptoms of PTSD, there is another foe facing Trevor, that may be the last straw.... Our poor hero has already faced in his short life more trials and tribulations than most do in their four score and ten. How many attempts on his life that come very close to succeeding can one endure without going insane? What he has endured is almost like being in prolonged combat with all that stress and strain.

    Death & Taxes

The amount of intrigue in this story is amazing. BS inside lies and misdirection on so many levels. Lawyers as portrayed in this story, including the States Attorney are calculating shills. The police are either dirty or manipulative. Poor Trevor, Shane, Joel and Lisa, they have no idea just how much they were used as pawns and still they are being played as sacrificial lambs, by parents, the mob, law enforcement and just about everyone else.
  18. Having whined in the past about how 'adult' Will was being portrayed and being smacked upside the head with replies reminding me that some kids were really more advanced than others throughout puberty, I bought into the premise. After reflecting, I decided that yes I did know (remember) some kids who were 14 and easily passed for 18, both back in the dark ages of the early 1960's and when I met some of my son's friends back in 1991 when he was 12. So the story has progressed and Will has become a better understood person based on his history and character as developed by Mark. I get the feeling, that Kristen turned out to be a much more pivotal character in Gathan's life than Mark originally envisioned and then got stuck in his long range romance, with separation anxiety and all the other angst that goes with trying to maintain a long range relationship. Sometimes, making believeable characters produces some unintended consequences. Life like fiction, happens. One reviewer opined that the writing got better when the output was not so frenetic and that is probably true, but the writing was never a problem. As I understand it, the problem was where the story was going or not going and that had to be worked out and I think Mark has done a credible job.
  19. In regard to the topic, if there are no shades of gray, then the main characters like the vast majority of people on the planet are less than perfect. Mark Twain had much to say on the topic. Here are some of his quotes: "Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities. Truth isn't." "Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please." "Honesty is the best policy - when there is money in it."
  20. Criminal lawyer Or at least an oxymoron? Sorta like what us grunts used to think of 'military intelligence'.
  21. I heartily second both paragraphs above!

    Chapter 45

Great chapter. I really liked that it was Robbie who jumped in as they were piling on Will. The follow up in the car was even better. Dads don't often get a teachable moment that actually gets through to adolescents without coming across as overbearing.

    Chapter 23

Storms blew them back to Elba quickly, just in time to meet up with Sir Phillip Kerry whom we learn had news from Caroline. Nice cliffie!
  24. I had the same problem with the site being slow today too. However, I was glad to find the latest chapter this evening. I thought the way Will handled being the "coach" was extremely well written and his reaction to the event and the baby was real. Nice job. His good mood carried into the waiting room and how he handled the crowd, including his brother and Tony. If Will's perception is accurate, it appears Tony will have some more problems trying not to be like his dad. Matt and Wade both dads? Jeanine and Tina de-coupled? Gathan still wallowing in separation anxiety? So many loose ends.

    Chapter 44

Will keeps having these amazing quasi-adult moments and thoughts. What a birthday experience. The story has taken an interesting turn now that it looks like the moms are in fact about to break up.
