Post Columbine, Colorado passed some of the nations toughest laws concerning guns and minors. It was a knee jerk reaction to the event but the new laws still leave judges and prosecutors a great deal of discretion on how they would charge someone. Colo. The good: some models work against radar and the newer laser based systems in use by police. If you buy one, you'll want one that can detect X, K, Ka/super-wide Ka, Ku and instant-pop band radars, has 360 degree laser detection and can detect multiple threats. The newest generation of radar detectors are microprocessor controlled and are very smart. They can "read" the same electronic safety codes that emergency vehicles use (like "Road Hazard", "Emergency Vehicle" or "Train Approaching" alert is displayed in reaction). Another smart feature is that some can learn about recurring false positives and can remember them. The bad: many detectors will cause false positives based on common systems in use on or near roadways like automatic doors and highway department laser scanners. The ugly: some cops that see that you have a radar detector will give you as much grief as they can get away with. Sometimes a simple speeding ticket will become speeding + reckless driving + whatever else he can think of to screw you. Your insurance can go up or be canceled. A very good radar detector can be had for under $200. Anything more expensive has probably got bells and whistles that you don't need. This buyers guide can help you sort through it. Something relatively new is a combination device that puts a GPS navigation system and a radar detector in the same box. They are worth a look not just because they can kill two birds with one stone. Not even the most hard-ass cop will hold having a GPS navigation system against you.

I enjoyed Battlestar Galactica but I wasn't ashamed of it. The writing was good. There isn't much I currently care for. Fast Forward may have potential but I'm still waiting for the writing to go south and for it to be canceled without notice like Surface or Jericho- before the story line is complete. Remember Space Above & Beyond? Great premise. Decent writing and a time slot up against Sunday night football and their best demographic. Canceled before the story arc was complete after 2nd season. Surface had potential but they aborted it. Jericho was excellent but they aborted it too after the writers screwed the pooch by making up a ridiculous evil government conspiracy to nuke itself. Let's see- the Chinese? no. the Iranians? no the North Koreans? no It was the evil bald headed government man! HORSE SHIT! Network shows or I should say shows made by networks often lack a few things: good writing, a plot, characters you give a damn about. Their comedies are not very funny once you are over 16. They are mass produced as cheaply as possible and, most of the time it shows. I try to look at the crap but it disgusts me because I know that it can be so much better if they don't produce it like a sausage factory: throw a bunch of pieces/parts together, grind it and... *profit*.

I always take a shower in the morning. My work can be very physical at times and sometimes I need to soak in hot water to recover. I install network cables (correctly) and the customers never want them to go anywhere nice. It's always in a blazing hot attic or a claustrophobic crawlway, in a drop ceiling full of dust or down into a dungeon of a basement. Funny I should mention drop ceilings- wanna know what is the weirdest thing I've found in a drop ceiling? A fruitcake. Judging by the label, it was made in the eighties. Running cable on the coast to replace stuff destroyed by Katrina, I found dried out fish in the walls of a bank a year and a half after Big-K.

Sorry- I don't know many dragon jokes other than: One shouldn't meddle in the affairs of dragons because you are delicious toasted. I usually use situational humor. In my latest posted work, WWIII has broken out. A few nukes have been dropped and bio-warfare agents have been released. "Oh jeez. How could things get any worse?" "We're still alive." "Good point."

Three Win Teams: Vikings- There is reason for optimism in Viking country. With Peterson running and Farve showing flashes of that old bayou magic, the Vikes look to be closer to making a run than they have been in years. Denver- Call me back when they play somebody- oops, they've got Dallas next week... but is Dallas anybody? Colts- are expected to be a playoff team from a weak division. Theier real test is how far they get once they get in the playoffs. Giants- whuppin' Tampa Bay doesn't impress as much as beating the Cowboys at their home opener. Jets- are another team that hasn't really been tested yet. We'll see how good they are this weekend when they visit the Saints in the Superdome. Ravens- have the Pats and the Vikings in the next three weeks. Saints- beat a good Buffalo team and have a lot of peoples attention. Their first real test will be the Jets this weekend. The Rest The Pats beat the Falcons this weekend and Brady looked more like the Brady we remember. He exposed the Falcon secondary... but he exposes a lot of peoples secondary. How the Birds shore things up on defense is going to make a big difference in how far they go. Are the Pats back? We'll see. Their schedule looks like 10 miles of bad road. The Falcons have open date to fugure things out. The Pack won their second as did the Bears and it looks like a three way dog fight for the NFC North Division is shaping up. The Lions broke the longest losing streak and beat Jim Zorn's Redskins. It had to happen- Stafford is a good young QB and the Lions can look forward to better days. The Bengals are playing better football than they have in years. If they keep it up, they could translate a soft schedule into a Wild Card. It's too early to call them a surprise team but they look good. I might quit calling them the Bungles. What happened to the Jags? For the last few years they have been the best team nobody had ever heard of but they are 1-2 this season and have not looked good. Their schedule is kind: they have the Titans-Seahawks-Lambs coming up so they have a chance to recover but that defense doesn't look nearly as scary as it was last year. Games of the Week ____________________ Ravens-Pats A real test for both teams: are the Pats physical enough and can the Ravens contain Brady? Saints-Jets This might be the game of the week. Two unbeaten teams that are both playing well- it doesn't get any better. Cowboys-Broncos The first real test of the Broncos: can Orton move the ball against the Dallas defense and can the Broncos defense handle the Dallas ground game. Will Romo play like he is capable of playing or will he look startled? Chargers-Steelers Anybody's ball game. Roethlisberger needs to play better and the Chargers need to focus. Whoever gets it together will win and, you can bet both teams will spend some time in the hot-tub after this one. Packers-Vikings This is the game a lot of people a lot of people are waiting to see. Farve will face his old team- two years after retiring. I'm thinking the Vikes have the talent edge but the Packers are going to be pissed. Call it the Black & blue bowl because you can bet these two old rivals will go after each other in this one. Other Games Giants-Cheifs Bungles-Brown Stains Bucs-Deadskins Colts-Seahawks Raiders-Texicans Lions-Bears Bills-Dolphins Titans-Jags Week 4 Picks Ravens-Pats Ravens Saints-Jets Saints (at home) Cowboys-Broncos Broncos (at home) Chargers-Steelers Steelers Packers-Vikings Vikes week 3 picks __________________ Titans-Jets Jets Packers-Rams Pack Falcons-Patriots the Birds Saints-Bills the Saints in a shoot out Dolphins-Chargers Fins Panthers-Cowboys Boys 3-2

Mine can stay silent for days... until I'm having sex. Then the bloody thing rings off the hook. -
I never read that, but seeing the movie profoundly influenced my basic stance in a lot of things in life. Much later QAF came along at just the right time for me when I faced some challenges that could best be (or only be) met if I brought a good measure of detachment to the task. Brian Kenney became my hero in a way, perhaps ironically. Maybe I'm the only person who sees similarity in the two characters, but it worked for me at that time, so who cares if the similarity is really there. Funny you should mention that. I read a review of QAF some years ago that described Brian Kenny as a gay Howard Roark and another called him the love child of James Dean and Ayn Rand. Before that, I wasn't really interested in QAF. My experience with gay society were screaming bar queens that I, like a wolf caught in a trap, would happily chew off a hand or foot to escape from. After seeing Brian Kenny described in that way, I went out and rented the entire DVD set up to season 3 and caught up. I also got to see a wider spectrum of gay culture and was more accepting and receptive to it.

One Random Fact and one observation
JamesSavik commented on NickolasJames8's blog entry in Read my blog
The Titans are a team with a lot of problems. Collins is a stable, not brilliant quarterback and can't really be expected to carry the team. A few years ago the Titans bet the ranch on Vince Young as the franchise QB of the future and he's just not ready for the pressure or the attention. Collins, drafted in 1995, is a stop gap measure at best. There are a few backups around the league that the Titans could make a deal for like David Carr with the Giants. They had Chris Simms and let him go to the Broncos. At this point in the season, they are stuck. No one can come in and "fix" things. Offensive systems take years to master. Looks like a long year for the Titans. -
I was at the mall the other day and noticed several gay guys. GayDar had nothing to do with it. They might as well have been flying rainbow colors. I ate at chick-fillet with a friend girl and she mentioned that I should hit up the little cutie at the check out register. I told her I would be afraid that I might break him.

As an adult: The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. Howard Roark is the man. As a kid: The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien changed a redneck jock kid into a bookish, redneck jock kid..

Neglect can be one of the worst forms of child abuse. I knew kids growing up whose parents traveled and left them at home for weeks at a a time. My own parents were gone most of my junior & senior year . Kids need their parents around- if for no other reason to show the kids that they are WORTH being around. Happy Birthday pal. :king: If I ever make it to the islands, you've got to show me around.

LOL... I'm from Mississippi and know EXACTLY what you mean. My ex-sister in law lives in Ada. I've worked in Tulsa, Talaquah, Red Oak and Talahina. As for the magic herb, it grows pretty well in Oklahoma if I remember correctly.
