As part of the creative writing course I am taking, a recent assignment was to write a chapter to go at the start of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men - written in the style of Steinbeck. I have decided to share it with you all.

Daniel gets lost in love but finds himself. A story of self-discovery through love.


P.S. This is NOT a fantasy story even if the title has the word 'angel' in it.

Tonight was the night. It was Raven's birthday and Leif was making sure that everything was perfect.

This is the story of a gay National Serviceman (an Army conscript) during the South African / Angolan war in the 1980s.

The first few chapters deal with the main character's basic training. After Basics he is sent to the border (that is what we called Namibia), where he experiences his first firefight.

He falls in love during basics. During the firefight they both realise the depth of their love for each other.

This story tells a tell of two boys, that fall in love but with that love comes heartache and misery. I wonder what they will do.

At the end of this story, chapter 27, i have a surprise for you guys/gals!
