Book Two of The Last Statue follows on from Heart of Black Ice Bay and traces the lives of five new characters across roughly similar timelines.

• Marica is almost duped by a night caller accelerating her future plan to escape the palace;
• Jasmar's instincts tells him to accompany Marica’s siblings on their escape to Loq;
• Tad, a menial in Aulderly, stumbles upon the missing Lore of Invocation;
• Brokerman has to help deal with an emerald explosion that rips through the grounds of the Aulderly;
• Duke Ervine holds together a fragmented empire while a new ruler is being agreed upon.

This is a multi-chapter sci-fi story primarily about 11 to 18 year-olds, though some chapters deal with adults. There is sexual exploration, graphic descriptions of violence, religious themes, and the development of a master-slave relationship. There is bit of sex, but nothing too graphic.

While has parents come in and out of his life, he finds guidance in his teacher who his helps explore his love for writing and with his attraction to guys, including falling madly in love with his best friend. James battles himself and his close minded environment to come out and find who he truly is.
