This is my second story. It is mostly nonfiction with a little fiction mixed in. It is based on an real-life experience of a close friend that I thought would make for a good short story. He provided the skeleton and I filled in the dialogue with his approval. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed hearing it recounted to me.

Set in Cynus's 'Weightless' and 'Fearless' universe, Shane Blankenship unexpectedly finds himself interacting with one of the guys on his List - like, guys he'd date sort of list. This is an Urban Fantasy, Portal Story, set in the Modern USA. Specifically Washington D.C.

If life was there for the taking, then it might look a lot like Kay Walker’s life. A good family with liberal and accepting attitudes, doing impressively well at college both on and off the field, a big circle of friends, and a promising future.

Of course, there are a couple of problems with this picture. Firstly, it wouldn’t make a very interesting story. And secondly, perhaps more importantly, it’s not quite true. Or at least, it’s not the whole picture.

Then his Grandparents died, leaving him their ranch and his younger brother Joseph to watch over. He took his responsibility for his younger brother seriously. The two boys had lost their parents when Wes was a teenager. With his Grandparents gone and no-one to look after his brother or the ranch, he quit the rodeo, and moved back home.

Corporal Cameron Holden moonlights as Liberty, a costumed vigilante who watches over and protects fellow servicemen and the wider public from those that would do them harm. Returning to duty from the incident that gifted him with the powers to become Liberty, Cameron finds himself reassigned as the personal driver to the rugged and handsome Colonel John Haverson.

Cameron will need all his skills to keep the Colonel safe and to keep himself from falling for the older man.

Liam is tired of feeling like he's a second choice, but walking away is never easy.
