Seventeen year old Dakota (Dak) Ross was having a little difficulty with the goings on in his life. He’d recently come out as gay to his mother. He hadn’t seen his dad since he was three, or so he had been told by his Uncle Spence. He couldn’t hide his relationship with Jamie Paxler any longer now that they were having sex. Well, just oral sex so far, but he couldn’t hide the goofy grin he wore almost all of the time. Definitely all of the time he and Jamie were together.

Sharing that little piece of news with his mother didn’t go over very well at all.

This journal is supposed to help me get through life. Write what happened for the day, then reflect upon the words. Since I started my sophomore year in high school, it's become a daily activity. These entries certainly helped me through some bad times.

Let's hope college won't be as brutal. I guess I should put this away. Got a long drive ahead of me. It's move-in day! I'm praying my roommate won't be an asshole and make fun of my art.

It's not often I get inebriated. When I do, I often forget about writing. Hopefully, this collection will force me to remember. What will my drunk self talk about? Who knows...

All entries are written by me while intoxicated, then edited when I sober up.

Poems for National Poetry Writing Month - April 2023

I went to a therapist once. She told me to write down my feelings, wants, and desires, but I never returned to give her my findings because my college only provided one free session. I also never wrote them down.

Better time than any, I suppose.

3 Part Novella.

When you think about it, being in love is a horrible feeling if the person you're in love with does not feel the same back. In fact, I'd say being in love from one side only is the equivalent of mental torture. I'm Craig, and I wanna take you through parts of my year with Joe.

This story begins with us and ends with me. It's about me, my feelings and that terrible pain of one sided love. I was 14, in the middle of puberty and all the fun that comes with that. It was also the time I think I could tell I liked boys. But of course, that had to be a secret, and Joe was my biggest secret of all.

A chance collision at a Bakery. A scent that returns the powerful memory of a past encounter. A yearning for a face remembered. An obsession born. A Gipsy. A Handsome Gipsy.

In this elder teen drama, Luke Hanson provides a touching yet sometimes lighthearted account of his mental health issues and experiences as a college dropout. Luke also shows us the often funny side of being on the cusp of manhood and all its emotions while on a Journey that suddenly diverges onto a single path. Overall this is a story about lost love, an unlikely reunion and the pounding beat of a yearning heart.
