Prompt- write two stanzas based on your emotions when you first wake.

Lyrics- Prompt #3 Earl Grey Tea

 

 

Groggy wincing at bright sunlight

My thoughts go straight to you

There is something I’d rather do

Than paint the ceiling white

 

Such mundane matters matter not

Compared to love I feel

I’ve changed my mind so here’s the deal

Small battle has been fought

 

First shower, then I’m in my car

A better kind of day

Picking up flowers on my way

I’ll meet you where you are

 

There you sit in bright summer light

Waiting in need for me

I watch you sip your Earl Grey tea

No doubt my choice was right

I doubled up on the stanzas... to match the music I heard...

Isn't that the truth. I hate painting, and keep finding excuses to avoid the living room ceiling LOL. This is something I actually did recently, and yeah, he drinks Earl Grey. Thanks for the review, Reader... much appreciated... I'm in poetry mode... cheers... Gary...

Thanks, Drew! That is the best thing you could have said. The world of poetry has opened up to me, and now I want everyone to like it. That you can get a message or understanding from mine is awesome. I know that some poetry can be obtuse, and difficult to grasp, but I do find a beauty in that... it makes me really think... but poetry with clarity has it's place as well, and I do like clarity. Thanks, Puppilull. Yeah...not much of a battle between painting and perfection :) . By the way... the flowers were potted mini yellow roses for his balcony, in case you were wondering. I've learned to cherish the here and now... thanks for the review... cheers... Gary...

Cool... I'm glad it did that for you, dugh! Yes... Earl Grey or green tea with jasmine :) . He seems to like the roses. He was quite touched, actually, by my little surprise. I didn't call till I was on my way... Thanks for the review... take care of yourself, and feel better... cheers... Gary...

You're lousy at keeping a secret :) . Thanks, Bucket... I'm glad you liked it. I an assuming the moment you mean is when I saw him waiting for me, drinking his tea on the outdoor patio. It was special...and well worth writing about. Thank you for the review, Buddy... cheers... Gary...

Thank you for taking the Poetry Prompt challenge!

 

You've flawlessly kept up the 8/6 metre, and the internal lines of your stanza flow very well! All the images are strong too, and the white ceiling is great as metaphor as well as a physical 'place.'

 

I hope you do some more poems along these lines, as I know you will get comfortable in working in metre. It already shows!

 

I can't wait for you to take the Poetry Prompt challenge No. 4! I know you'll excel at it.

I enjoyed this lyrics challenge. It seemed to suit me. The subject matter I chose was uplifting. I am trying to do all the challenges, but it may take time to get to them all. Thanks for providing the prompts and the directions to go with them... cheers... Gary
