Chapter 13- Quatrain- My Own Autumn
How can such beauty instigate sadness
Lush life showing last vestiges of will
I love all the colors I must confess
But mourn what it means as I drink my fill
Indian summer, a blessing indeed
A treat I have wished for all summer long
Only to blink, and now watch it recede
Heeding winter’s wail to craft his own song
For years I have watched this cycle of life
Played out in a sequence so like my own
Often, time’s passage can cut like a knife
Now comes the time I must reap what I’ve sown
I wrote three... as I get older, I see things in a different light...
