Headstall's Poetry Prompts - 23. Chapter 23-Prompt 15, and 5- My Door and Alone Again-Before and After
Headstall’s Poetry Prompts
Prompt 15- Free Verse- My Door
Sweet morning arrives to a car going by
A slow steady whine that grows and then dies
I wake up alone, and play ‘I wonder why’
My spirit is soaring while on wings my hope flies
Is it for the sunlight that borders my window
Or maybe the whinny I hear from outside
My sleep muddled brain pretends not to know
Delicious to play, but I can’t stem the tide
Because this is the day my full heart waits for
The culmination of my yearning and love
In a few torturous hours you’ll walk through my door
And for that I will thank the good Lord above
Prompt 5- Rhymes and Couplets- Alone Again
I abhor the loneliness creeping back
I don’t remember night ever looking so black
Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining
But it’s hard to be sunny, when inside I’m raining
You do what you have to, I understand
It’s my choice too, you offered your hand
I know you’ll be calling, you always do
And I’ll be here waiting to connect hearts with you
When our talk ends, and the line goes dead
I’ll breathe in the scent where you rested your head
