Chapter 25 Prompt 4- I Remember

I remember when

I didn’t know who I should be

I recall the mess of feelings

Confusing the hell out of me

I remember when

My sanity started to fail

I can relive warped thinking that

My very best option was to bail

I remember when

The pain was all too consuming

So impossible to focus

When harsh destiny was looming

I remember when

I poured out my dark confession

I’ll never forget the horror

Of that wrenching all night session

I remember when

Dawn delivered absolution

The chains that bound my cursed soul

No longer trapped my pollution

I remember when

I faced my new reality

And learned to embrace my true self

In all of its totality

I remember when

Ahead stretched beyond my limit

And now when I look behind me

I’m relieved I found skin that fit

A long and winding journey....

That was terrific Gary. I've been through some shit, but I sort of always knew who I was. I didn't have to deal with those demons.

This poem worked well and the feeling, confusion and torment came through...

Thanks, tim. It's been a tough ride at times. It's amazing how big things can look facing you, and how much smaller they get when you're past them. Thanks for the review... and the kind words... cheers... Gary...

Lit took the words right out of my mouth.

The vividness of the words that described an amazing journey. Very powerful yet very touching as well - It is as if the reader is there to see it all.

Well done Gary

Thanks, Reader. I'm glad to hear you felt it in this way. We are the product of our journeys... I appreciate your constant support and the review... cheers... Gary...

So powerful, how you expressed the struggle you felt and I could sense how hard a time it was wrestling with those feelings. Glad that time is behind you Gary, and you are now free to be you.. xox

I would never say it was easy, Def. It was a supreme struggle to accept... and here I am... it's all good. Thanks for getting it, and for your terrific support for what I have to say... cheers... Gary...

More powerful stories in poems. They do seem to capture the essence of a moment, a scene, a chapter in our lives. I have enjoyed exploring poetry again

That's nice to hear, B. I want everyone to love poetry. I think it's a wonderful form of expression, and much of the time it gives me peace. Poems can be a snapshot of a memory or a feeling, an emotion... I go back over some of the ones I've written and they speak to me. Thanks for the review, buddy... I love what you say here... cheers... Gary...
