Drew's Poetry Prompts - 10. Not A Prompt- In Love

I wrote this five years ago for a boy from another school that I had an intense crush on. :*)
Looking at this poem now, I'm embarrassed I ever wrote it, but I've decided to share it with y'all.
In Love

Your gaze sets my heart beating ever faster.
Your smile sends my soul into the heavens.
Your touch brings warmth to my entire being.

Happiness
Peace
Joy
Love

Because of you I know them.
Because of you I am whole.
My thanks go to Jamessavik, he inspired me to post it.
Finally, Happy Valentine's Day!

You shouldn't apologize for this, Drew... It's beautiful and honest... I would wish for such a Valentine as this, if I was that boy. Wonderful... cheers... Gary....

Thank you Gary. :*) After I posted this poem, my heart was beating so fast, I was that nervous. But, I've since calmed down, and I am kinda glad I posted the poem.

Happy Valentine's Day Gary!

It is like you adorably sweet. Did you give it to him or simply pine from afar?

Thanks Dugh! I was an incredibly shy teenager, and I was even more so around boys I liked. Well, I wrote two poems, this one is the one I didn't send, because it laid out exactly how I felt, and I was too shy to actually give it to him.

The one I did send only hinted at my feelings, but I was able to pluck up the courage to send that one to him.

Hmm, maybe I'll post the other poem, next Valentine's Day. :)

Anyways,

Happy Valentine's Day Dugh!

You're too hard on yourself ... it's lovely and a wonderful memory of a special time in your life. Thanks to James for encouraging you to post it.

Thanks tim! And you're right, I am too hard on myself. I'm like that with almost everything I do, and this poem is no exception. But, I am happy that everyone likes it, it means a lot. :)

Happy Valentine's Day tim!

It is very hard to bare your soul and be vulnerable, either to the boy you liked, or to a community like this one. This guy would have had a heart of granite not to appreciate a poem like this, though. It is true and lovely and beautiful; it is nothing to be sorry about. Happy Valentine's Day!

Thanks Parker. That vulnerability fed into my nervousness yesterday when I posted this poem. I am touched that so many like this poem, especially since I wrote it before I learned the mechanics of poetry.

Happy Valentine's Day Parker!

Another wonderful poem with all the innocence of youth.  I went thru high school much the same.  I was shy and had a crush on a guy I thought would make my life complete.  It's a common event in human life. 😜

Goodness, I still can't believe I went ahead and published a poem I wrote in high school. Thanks, Terry!
