Moggy's Mutterings - 21. Quilting
1.
Worthless.
Not even valued to pass time with.
Worthless.
Not worth acknowledgment.
Worthless.
Not worth time, friendship, love.
Worthless like pieces of cloth tossed away.
Trash.
2.
Where to start.
Putting together a life,
out of broken pieces of a shattered spirit.
Ball it all up and toss it away?
Perhaps piece it together.
A quilt of a life that is past.
Which piece to use?
This one, the gentle hug?
Or that long ago one, the rape in the dark closet?
Maybe the memory of the cat purring?
Perhaps the beatings of an old lover?
Stitched together to form a life.
Reinforcing the threads around the good.
Letting the bad rot, as time passes.
All these make the cloth we wear into the future.
3.
As I lay my weary body upon my bed, as day melts into night.
Stars play peek-a-boo through the trees and i let my mind wander.
Of the times and people I left behind, either by my choices or theirs,
I know, no matter how my heart aches and my soul cries,
I am were I’m supposed to be.
