Lux's Indulgences - 16. Incertitude

When the hours draw long

And the calls begin to come in

When the changes start to come fast

And are too much to bear

How can I be with you?

How can I hold you up?

I want to comfort your weary soul

Provide aid, release and distraction

But I don’t know how to get inside your head

To read your needs before you even know they are there

I may be your lover, faithful and true

But there is no star-crossed magic in my talents

I do not know how to anticipate you

Please, I beg, please tell me

When things are hurting, worrying

Aching

Please, I beg, please tell me

What I can do

I am lost right now in my guesswork

In the silence on the other side of that

Closed bedroom door

Letting you sleep off the trials

Of a difficult day

But please, I beg, please let my

Pleas not be another burden

Making everything just a little bit worse

Because I don’t know what to do
