Lux's Indulgences - 8. Freedom?

so here it is

that final moment

but I'm not quite finished

it's not quite time to walk away

there is too much left

unfinished, unspoken, unsaid

the mark left only a shallow

ghost of wasted potential

wanting to let go

yet tied back still

all those little things

chores of failure to be packed away

the vastness before me

is terrifying in its immensity

cobbled wings of wax and paper

may not be enough to cross

this is freedom

but gravity is still a chain

unbroken

unyielding

I'm not suicidal. This just came out of thoughts about my future, sorting out myself and finding a new career path.

Wow. Good stuff, lux. I was so relieved to read your note :) . I thought the whole thing worked beautifully, but this verse resonated:
"the vastness before me
is terrifying in its immensity
cobbled wings of wax and paper
may not be enough to cross"

I know I've felt that fear of the unknown a few times in my life... going on a wing and a prayer and hoping for the best... beautifully expressed, buddy... cheers... Gary....

I'm glad you explained it. I thought it was about you walking away from your personal connections.

It's an effective poem; thanks for sharing :)

Thought maybe you pulling the cat out-of-the-bag again! After reading this i had a flash of The Hanged Man, the tarot card. Breaking old patterns of behaviour, careful planning and growth, self-sacrifice and rebirth. Just a thought.. nicely done in any case!!

I definitely was feeling like The Hanged Man. Still do, to be honest. Onward and upward! Thanks Tim!

Glad you enjoyed it. That part was probably my favourite as it came out of my head, too. It just gelled nicely.
