Lux's Indulgences - 2. Sleep

When you go to sleep

Every night

Before me

What do you dream?

When I crawl into bed

Later, tired

And the bed dips

Do I wake you?

When I am restless

And my body and mind

Work against me,

When you get up

And go sleep on the couch

Do you resent me?

Sometimes I don’t get

That kiss goodnight

If I don’t initiate it

I wonder if I’m

Even attractive

Anymore

When you go to sleep

Every night

Without me

What do you dream?

Thank you for sharing the kind of internal questioning you face with us so poetically. Your questions, your speculations, are mine, too; I've asked the same ones. But you do it so much more style than I. Thanks again.

You showed the rift that can happen during relationships perfectly. I hope you get your answers.

Frighteningly familiar. The cure is to talk... so why do we often leave these questions unasked? Terrific poem, lux... lots of power in these words... cheers... Gary....

Sometimes we wait for the right time to ask. Sometimes it's easy to write things off as just mismatched schedules. Sometimes we need to prioritize our relationships when we've let things go. I have a level of hidden fear, I guess. I don't think I will be hurt by answers, but right now I couldn't handle a negative response. :/

Thanks Val. To be honest I am overthinking things, mostly. Still, it is good to reflect and consider.

Wonderful but sad. It sounds like you need to ask him, need to talk...

I wonder, maybe, whether the questions should be asked out loud, or by action? Show rather than tell?

Thanks for reading, Tim.

More style than you? I don't know about that, Parker... :)

Thank you for reading and finding empathetic meaning in these words.

worried introspection and ungrounded grounds are the bane of the insomniac -- how well I know

Nice verse, nonetheless, even if it put a frown on my face

A reaction provoked is better than none at all, yes? Well, as long as it was an emotional reaction to the text and not the quality... ;)

Thanks for the r&r skinny. :)
