Wayne's Poems - 2. Lust

I see you there.
I don't pretend this is more,
and that gives me strength.

You step near me.
Your eyes, question, but I'm sure.
How this ends I know.

This isn't love.
It doesn't mean that it's wrong.
Touch begets goosebumps.

You sigh, I smile.
I don't pretend this is more.
Tonight, we shall lust.

I don't know where it came from, but it wanted out.
Weird, strange, and unknown for me to do anything that doesn't rhyme. I... like it. Yes, I'm surprised.

It's a good poem. Although you stayed away from rhyme, the structure of each stanza is precise. This precision lends a rigid backbone to a poem that is about free-flowing notions and emotions -- and I like that :) I think it really works here

When your verse or verses resonate in the beat of your heart or the wave of a thought....there is your rhyme (and reason).

Thanks, Fanlit.  "Poetry" to me was something very specific growing up.  It had to rhyme.  Such is the way I was taught.

So it has taken until... well, now, for me to move beyond that.

I appreciate your thoughts.  Thank you, again.
