Wayne's Poems - 14. Home

I miss the hills, the music and sound,
of my old Kentucky home.

I yearn for days spent with kin around,
with no urge or need to roam.

Family and friends, they were everything,
there's nothing truly to say,
to help you hear the banjos that sing,
the fiddles and voices play.

I'll never again be welcomed there,
I'm different now, and they know.
But a bluegrass boy can dream and share,
my love I can't help but show.

Though feet can't my heart will go.

Thanks to @AC Benus for suggesting I get my feelings down in a poem. I'm not sure how "good" this is, but... it makes me want to cry. So, I guess it has that going for it.

It is a better than good poem, Wayne, and your feelings are definitely well expressed.

Thank you, Def.  I appreciate your comment, and that you read the poem.

It's funny... I've been alive 44 years, and only spent 17 of them in Kentucky.  But, the place owns my heart.  I think it will, forever.

Wonderful poem. Also heartbreaking, though... Glad you managed to get your feelings into words. ❤️

Thanks, Thorn.  This one... yes.  This one hurts.

Something about this haunts me! Why won't he be welcomed back? What "change" are we talking about? My heart felt heavy reading this one. A saddening poem that's heartfelt.
